Well I've done it, just like Fugger I've got a Merom 2.13 in my mac mini.......

Now onto the interesting part............ Now that my Mac Mini is fully 64bit now (proved by booting Ubuntu x64) Id like to install XP 64bit edition and also Vista x64, but I need drivers baby!

Vista shouldn't be much of an issue since the mini is well supported hardware wise on the 32bit variant just out of the box, But XP64 that's a different matter......

My second question relates to the MacPro install CD, has anyone hacked it yet so a MacTel is running in 64bit mode instead of 32bit mode? If I reinstall 10.4 on my mac mini will it detect my 64bit processor and install a 64bit kernel or will it stay at 32bit (which it seems to be doing in Leopard)???

Wait you installed leopard on it and it is still running x86 instead of x86_64? I thought that the WWDC copy had 64 bit support in it, but I guess the intel part might only have 32bit support until a later release.

The only way to know for sure is to see if a MacPro user tested 10.5 and got 64bit support?

Ooops, I was wrong. Did a clean install of Leopard (instead of a reinstall) onto my mac mini and then installed xcode, compiled CGPDFViewer as a 64bit only x86_64 binary, it ran fine. :):(:)

Tried compiling a few other things but stuff that uses fancy apple stuff ain't happy either at compile time or runtime (I guess xcode 3,0 is needed for that stuff).

Then tried running the x86_64 binary of CGPDFViewer on my current tiger install, no go but things looking up. Now all I need to do is reinstall Tiger and see if I can run CGPDFViewer again. I suspect x86_64 has been in Tiger all along.

The thing that caught me out was parallels working on my current Tiger install (known issues with 64bit processors). I suppose I should have tried the xcode method to check 64 bit support before the reinstall but it was late last night and I'd had a few beers lol!!!!!!! Support might have been there all along, it ain't easy to work out of osx is running in 64bit or not!
