Mr.Mac Help
Hi Everyone, I keep on posting that I need help but no one wants to help me. But, I have to learn how to insall 10.6.8 on the 1st generation Intel i5 processor. I have an intel i5 480m, h55 chipset, Nvidia GeForce GT 425m. Acer Aspire 5745 DG. I have installed 10.6.2 using Hazard with the Legacy Kernel. I tried installing 10.6.8 but when it says it's registering, I gets a Kernel Panic. I tried in stalling the kernel before the update too. Please Help me. Thanks Have you tried using the Qoopz 10.3.0 Kernel? That is what worked for me on my 1st Gen Intel i3 processor. The qoopz kernel is said to support unsupported processors. Also, before you try a kernel change, try reinstalling and putting http://www.multiupload.com/RYXBI0O2BZ in your System/Library/Extensions folder after installing the 10.6.8 update but before rebooting. EDIT: Oh wait, I didn't read your post correctly. This time try installing with the iATKOS s3 v2 DVD, I can personally confirm it works. The panic looks to be with an 'unsupported device' and causes the kernel to call the <panic> multiple times and go completely haywire. Try removing all peripherals apart from your Mouse and Keyboard, as well as any extra HDD's and unsupported Graphics Cards.

I do have the cd and it has the legacy kernel too. If this works this is because of you. On my other hackintosh I have 10.6.8 successfully installed. Thanks! Now what kernel do I select? Qoopz 3,Qoopz 2? i tried pcl but it continuously reboots. Please help. I understand that iAtkos might work but I need someone to tell me what to select in order for it to boot properly and not get a kernel panic or constant reboot. I have tried qoopz 10.3.0 kernel that doesn''t work neither does PCL. I have also tried using no kernels. I need help please someone post me on how to get my hackintosh to work. I am actually doing this to upgrade to Lion. Please help me.
M92ManTis
You're welcome, my pleasure to help. Although, Qoopz 10.3.0 is what worked on my machine. You could also try booting using a custom boot CD. This will load the kernel for you before booting OSX, and I've seen people report success with it. Try different bootloaders (which use different kernels), #####-Legacy and Voodoo might work. EDIT: Also, if it constantly reboots for you, try busratio=20 -v on boot. If busratio=20 doesn't work, find the correct busratio of your processor and replace 20 with it. UPDATE: I found your busratio for you. It's 17. So: if the above doesn't work, try busratio=17 -v on boot. Good luck!
