bloodRa1n
Hi everybody, I got a problem after iAtkos S3 v2 (Snow Leopard 10.6.3), and I can't get out of it. So the problem is that when trying to load the system (after a successful installation) i see the "forbidden" symbol on the Apple logo, like this: So I tried to start in -v mode and this is what it gives to me, just when it stops loading the system: In BIOS settings I've set AHCI and I disabled all "optional" CPU features (SpeedStep, VanderPool, etc) because before the installation process, with all these features enabled I had a kernel panic just inserting the iAtkos DVD. I really hope you are able to give me a hand and I thank you in advance. P.S.: My HW config it's down in my signature, if you need I can give some more details! magnetique
Ciao! What options did you select by the installation? Please try to make a new install without any box checked related to graphic. You will be still able to install your graphic card later, but the priority now is to have a bootable/working system. Next you can try this: on my Asus mainboard I've got this symbol when I've used GUID as partition scheme, it was ok when I've used Master Boot Record (MBR) instead. Now I try the installation one more time, doing what you suggested me... Thank you very much, stay tuned! Sotirios Papakonstantinou
Apple wants MacOS run only on Apple computers and noteboks, so to make sure you have a "genuine" Mac and not a Hackintosh, they make use of Trusted Platform Module (TPM). This is a hardware signature of the motherboard and if MacOS doesn't find it (or is not fooled) refuses to boot. This means that only very specific hardware combination (chipset, CPU etc) will work without any modification. Most others we need some sort of hacking after installation to make sure we can boot in MacOS. This basically means to modify some specific files (or download versions that match our system) to fool MacOS that we have a real Mac. One of them is the mach_kernel file and another is a special file DSDT that summarises your hardware. If you look at some installation guides you will find more details. At this point you need a working MacOS installation (I used a temporary MacOS 10.5 installation which I deleted once I made 10.6 bootable) where you go to the terminal and type stuff. Maybe you have to make some small partition and install MacOS 10.5 to use it. I don't know if accessing the terminal from the installation DVD-ROM allows you to make the required modifications. Also it is not guaranteed that you will find drivers (kexts) for all your hardware, so some might not work in MacOS (this is very annoying with alternative OSes). bloodRa1n
So, I've tried a lot of times changing evertytime the installation config, but I'm not able to make snow leopard boot...As far as I can see from the many verbose boots I made, the problem is with some CPU or Northbridge parameter... Apple wants MacOS run only on Apple computers and noteboks, so to make sure you have a "genuine" Mac and not a Hackintosh, they make use of Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Thanks for your explanations, but by booting verbose I can see some positive messages relative to mach_kernel and DSDT (like "has sterted" or "has arrived" etc), so I think (but I am not really sure) I have to search the problem somewhere else... By the way, yesterday I was so frustrated from those many unlucky attempts that I put up a DVD with iDeneb 10.5.7, that two years ago I couldn't make boot because I didn't understand nothing about osx86, kexts etc, and in half an hour I had my 10.5.7 Leopard fully working with exact VGA kext (and those of all other peripherals) installed! Well, it's not Lion but for me it's a great beginning because I installed a lot of software and peripherals on it and it's seems to be very stable Now I prefer to keep this system up and understand maybe how to make system upgrades, first to 10.5.8 and then to snow leopard...
