InteliMac Pro
I'm running Lion on this motherboard now. If you've got 10.6.8 installed now, google XMove, follow those instructions, but before you go to reboot into the installer partition, download and install the chimera bootloader from tonymac. That should get you into the installer. If you're wondering about a fresh install, I'm currently looking into that myself. Nazfera2
hey how did you installed and update snow leopard on this motherboard. the old tutorial has its links down. http://osx86.co/f57/guide-retail-msi-x58-p...tures-64-t4084/ i have installed it but im having trouble with my usb keyboard and mouse being detected. also how do you update snowleopard. and better yet, have you found out any info on a direct install for lion? I'm running Lion on this motherboard now. InteliMac Pro
Download and burn ##### from tonymac. That should get you into the SL installer no prob. Then download ##### from tonymac also. If you don't have a modified DSDT, try the ##### install. You'll need VoodooHDA for audio ( Use the third oldest one that doesn't include the prefpane. All the ones with the prefpane give me a horrible hiss in my speakers). I just updated SL via software update. You may need the update helper before doing the 10.6.8 combo update. I'm not sure if it's necessary for this board. You can also find that on tonymac's site. Right now I'm in the process of trying to do a fresh SL install and then update to Lion, however for some reason I can't get the Lion installer to boot now. It keeps hanging on boot with a bug of some kind. I have no idea why it's doing it now. When I upgraded to Lion the first time it worked no prob. InteliMac Pro
boot with -x and remove voodoohda from S/L/E. Did you install any other audio fixes for the ALC888 codec? If you did voodoohda will conflict with them. That link is essentially the same method as tonymac, but using an SL Distro install rather than the retail disc install. I had Lion working once, so I know it works, I just can't figure out why i keep getting this Bug: launcherctl.c: 2408... error every time I try booting from the installer partition after a clean install. I don't think the two kexts needed for that tutorial are needed on the X58 Platinum, but I may be wrong. The first time I did the upgrade, I was running on a system that had updated to 10.6.8 with no problems. Nazfera2
i just tried to use ##### with -x and goes to kernel panic. i remember when SL came out i used chamaleon. but i haven't tried it because i am going to need a hard drive to install it, for some reason i cant copy it to a disk. Nazfera2
OK looks like chameleon is the ONLY one that works with snow leopard retail. chimera is not working at all. the only way i manage to make chameleon to work is by typing. -v cpus=1 for installation only. my alfa network awus036h is having issues and i just scrapped my installed snow leopard so ill try a fresh install tomorrow. hopefully my alfa network awus036h will work..... oh yea i just knowtest that only 4 or my usb's are working on snow leopard.... that might be why my alfa is not working. also i will not have sound. my video card is pure HDMI until i find a working kext for ATI Radeon HD5750 i guess i wont have audio. oh well.... i guess i dont have to upgrade snow leopard and install lion. iatkos L1 is just out. @_@ i guess its better to have a distro for lion... because this is hella breaking my head.
