Hello!

I am trying to install OS X Lion 10.7.

I’m stuck with 512Mb <PCI-E> DDR-2 Gigabyte GV-N84S-512I (RTL) +DVI+HDMI <GeForce 8400GS>.

It’s image:

My Card

My system:

CPU Intel Core i3-2120

M/B ASUS P8P67-M Rev3.0 (RTL) LGA1155 <P67> 2xPCI-E+GbLAN+1394 SATA RAID MicroATX

I’ve tried a lot of methods:

1) ##### from ##### (which worked perfectly for another PC with GeForce 9500GT)

2) Tried just putting GraphicsEnabler=Yes flag

3) Tried NVEnabler

4) Tried NVEnabler64

5) Tried putting EFI Strings for my own 8400GS video card and tried EFI Strings of Custom GeForce videocard with 512 mb of memory and DVI-DVI ports

6) Tried EFI Strings from “EFI strings for many videocards” thread on kexts.com

7) And the last one I tried was “nVidia GeForce 8400GS + NVEnabler” thread from the same kexts.com

Using 1-6 methods I got 1024x768 resolution. I could connect my monitor to each port (HDMI, DVI, D-Sub), they all worked (in 1024x768), but not simultaneously (so if I connect 2 monitors, I get an image only on a single one).

I have googled and search a lot of forums, but each solution lead to 1024x768, that’s all. Nothing changes. Just in “System profiler” I can see that my card was detected as GeForce 8400 GS.

Even using just a GraphicEnabler, my system recognizes the videocard.

When using the last method:

“Instruction:

This graphics card is post 2010 version of nVidia GeForce 8400GS 512 MB PCI-E.

1. Remove GeForce.kext, NVDANV50Hal.kext, NVDAResman.kext from your /System/Library/Extensions.

2. Use KextHelper app (in the attachment) and install the kexts.

GeForce

NVDANV50Hal

NVDAResman

NVEnabler64

I have added 0x10c310de 0x0be310de in IOPCIMatch key inside Info.plist files of GeForce, NVDANV50Hal, NVDAResman. So you just need to run these kexts in KextHelper and reboot. You should get a screen working by now with Display connector value as 1619w.“

I deleted all files described, used KextHelper, but it didn’t install anything, though it reported that everything went fine. I just copied kexts to S/L/E and repaired with Kext Utility.

After the reboot I can see blinking cursor (with full 1920x1080 resolution), but the system doesn’t show me the logon screen.

I’m totally stuck. I don’t know what to do. I have bought a new computer and took this 8400 GS just because I’ve read a lot of times that one can install it in Mac OS X without problems…

And I got this such a nice surprise…

Have you tried the PCIRootUID=1 fix? I think it is called that? It's in #####, I had to use that to get my 8400GS working fully in Snow Leopard and Partially in Lion.
