shoota
I'm calling all you hackintosh gurus out there. I got SL installed and updated to 10.6.8 and I'm so close to a fully functional install but I need sound and sleep (more interested in sound). I'll try to keep this brief so if I leave out some pertinent info just ask me for it. I installed using #####+MB and iAtkos 10.6.3 then did the normal Software Update to 10.6.8. I read in the HCL that my board uses ALC889 and I've tried quite a few things I found through hours of searching but none have worked. I'm not sure MB is working correctly as it doesn't install Kext Helper in /Applications like it says it's going to. Hopefully this is just a kext issue but if not hopefully someone out there knows what to do, thanks in advance! evga x58 sli le (E757) i7-920 geforce 210 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/262553-i-need-sound-help/ Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
The 10.6.8 AppleHDA.kext works like the one in Lion. This means that older legacy kexts and some other methods that we used to use with Snow Leopard's AppleHDA are no longer working. You need to find and follow a guide for ALC889 in Lion, it will work for 10.6.8 as well. shoota
Thank you I will try that. I read that the new applehda breaks legacy methods but I was under the impression that using the applehda rollback would install the 10.6.2 kext which would allow legacy kexts to work. Is that not the case? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/262553-i-need-sound-help/#findComment-1715826 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
Yes it's possible to use older AppleHDA versions on 10.6.8. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/262553-i-need-sound-help/#findComment-1715830 Share on other sites
shoota
Ugh nothing is working. I tried the bin patched files from kexts.com and the 10.6.2 kext. Wound up stuck at pci configuration begin. Next idea? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/262553-i-need-sound-help/#findComment-1715837 Share on other sites

Gringo Vermelho
Add GraphicsEnabler=y to your /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist, or, if you're using a recent build of Chameleon 2.0 RC5, /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist. If it doesn't work, add PciRoot=1 as well. You can type GraphicsEnabler=y PciRoot=1 at the Chameleon boot prompt to test if it works before setting it permanently. shoota
Im using the default AsereBLN v1.1.9 and there is no extra folder even though the option to create an /extra folder is checked. I also can't find the com.apple.boot.plist anywhere. in the iAtkos setup there is an option to enable graphicsenabler but checking it by itself doesn't work. If I use natit it works initially but not once I update to 10.6.8. What combo should I use and how do I reenable Natit on 10.6.8?
