Hi Group,

I am in the process of building myself a Intel system with a Intel D945GPM motherboard and a Pentium D 930 processor.

I wish to use a 320 Gb Seagate SATA drive that I have.

The Intel D945GPM motherboard from the documentation has a ICH7DH Serial ATA controller.

I have a copy of the JaS 10.4.6 Install DVD. (I know the install DVD is okay as my friend has installed on his machine with an IDE drive)

When I boot of the install DVD I get upto the Install section and no drives are visible.

Also if I goto terminal or disk utility theire are no visible drives. (df -k, diskutil etc)

(I know that the drive is working okay as I have already installed Windows (not SP1 or SP2), using the Intel supplied driver disk.)

Do I need to do anything with the BIOS to see the SATA drive here in the install?

What do I need to do to be able to see the drive?

Looking forward to suggestions.

Thanks

Nazomi i still not bought my hard drive, asked this at hardware forum, because i go buy a SATA2 HD for a mobo INTD945GTPLKR and i not know if the installation run. Everybody say than works, but as you not able to install it, i go wait for buy my HD.

FYI,

Discovered it to be an issue with the firmware on the motherboard.

SATA was always configured to RAID.

Firmware upgrade solved the issue with Mac OS X86 seeing the SATA drive.

Use AHCI mode in BIOS.

Only issue now my version of Micro$oft Windows XP does not is install or boot using AHCI drive.

Wikipedia talks about this, so I am off there for some more reading.

SATA the way to go. Very fast.
