GM965/GL960 - X3100 Graphics

Hello,

I have a Dell 1420 Inspiron that's running SL 10.6.6 pretty well, except for the graphics.

I run an Intel GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller that uses the X3100 kext on SL.

 

From hours and hours of searching and reading on numerous posts, its evident that the X3100 has issues with working.

 

I'v tried different approaches to the problem from setting up a DSDT with the X3100 laptop fix, to using the 'Sleep Trick' (that fixes the display from wake) to downloading and using other users X3100 kexts (that they claim to work/worked for them) to mixing all these methods together.

 

All I get is a blank screen from most of the approaches. Best I'v got is a blank screen with a mouse and lines that come and go.

 

If I connect an external screen, that works. But its evident that SL detects the external screen is the only display available.

 

 

Right now iv resorted to using SL without without any graphics kext.

 

Has anyone, preferably with a Dell Inspiron 1420 running a Intel GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller or simply a X3100, managed to get the graphics card working? And if yes, how?

 

Since all other X3100 posts seem outdated or old, this may bring some up to speed. Thanks.

I managed to get the X3100 kexts working, but under System Profiler, Graphics/Displays, the cards type is recognized 'GPU', instead of 'Display', which results in no graphics accel or Quartz GL. Any help is appreciated.
