markyb1980
Just purchased some new RAM to install in my machine, as I only had 2GB to get it going. Original RAM was 2x1GB sticks of Crucial Ballistix DDR2-6400 RAM, and just inserted 2x2GB OCZ Gold Edition XTC. Now everything seemed to work fine, it detected the RAM ok, except suddenly the network cards would not work. Ethernet not recognised (and I re-ran the kexts and ##### to try to get it to work again) and my wireless card not recognised either! Funnily enough, re-inserted the old RAM, and hey presto, both cards immediately recognised and fully working again... Any ideas what's caused this? What can I do? Do I need to do a full re-install again to get the computer to work with my RAM and the network cards, or is there a way round it? Gringo Vermelho
Are you using a patched DSDT.aml? Extract DSDT again with all your new RAM plugged in and re-patch it. markyb1980
Have tried doing that with DSDT Auto Patcher, but that didn't work Any more advice? Gringo Vermelho
It will not work if you run DSDT autopatcher on a system that already has a patched DSDT. Your patched DSDT is already loaded into memory so what happens is that the patcher loads and patches your already patched DSDT again and then nothing changes. You have to extract a clean DSDT and patch that. markyb1980
Did a complete reinstall, with all 4GB of new RAM fitted. No problems doing the install, but again it won't recognise my wireless card at all! Unplugged one of the 2GB sticks to leave just one in, rebooted, and it picks up the card straight away! Tried patching the DSDT now after the reinstall, and nothing... Seems the problem is nothing to do with the make of RAM, but more the quantity of it... Doesn't seem to like having 4GB of RAM! Which is not good, as I need 4GB of RAM fitted... Anyone got any more ideas?
