markyb1980
Hi all Successfully managed to join the Hackintosh world yesterday after reading up for months on this forum and finally bit the bullet. So many thanks to everyone in advance. Just a quick question though, I've got the Gigabyte G41M-ES2L Motherboard (as was recommended as being about the easiest Socket 775 board to convert), I set all the BIOS settings to exactly as they should be on the tutorial I followed, and all is great, I have OSX on my computer. BUT... I leave the computer alone for more than an hour or so, and I switch it on, and it comes up with a screen saying there's been a BIOS error, and it wants me to choose a setup from the menu, or hit Delete to enter the BIOS. So I've hit delete to enter the BIOS, and all of the settings have gone back to factory default! Every time I leave it for more than a few minutes... Now usually I'd say CMOS battery needs replacing, but this motherboard was brand new. Though possibly it had been sat on a shelf a while? How long would a CMOS battery last in a new motherboard if unused? Or could it be anything else? It's not a major issue, but it's kinda annoying and will only become more so I suspect! Any advice or help greatly appreciated from a newbie, who has only just started posting on here, but been following the forum a fair bit for a few months now. markyb1980
Just took a photo of the screen I get everytime I reboot now, it's no longer only happening after I leave it a while... Any ideas? Gringo Vermelho
http://netkas.org/?p=114 http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=515 etc, etc. You can also try ElliottForceLegacyRTC.kext (google/forum search) - although it doesn't seem to work for everybody. Fixing it in DSDT is the best option, it's set and forget. markyb1980
Many thanks for your input... You've been a great help! I tried and tried with a DSDT editor (think I need more practice) but even though I managed to patch the file, couldn't work out how I was supposed to install it (sorry, I'm new to this!). Just installed that kext in the end, and it seems to have worked a treat. Cheers again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259366-bios-keeps-resetting/#findComment-1698000 Share on other sites
WhizZ
Try using DSDTse (a.k.a DSDT Simple Editor). you can open your DSDT in there, edit it. and click install etc. very handy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259366-bios-keeps-resetting/#findComment-1698426 Share on other sites
