aceman90567
Hello everyone, Recently I have finished installing Mac OS on a new computer and I haven't had any problems since installation. Recently I have tried to install Zbrush 4 and Teamviewer, both legit licenses. Teamviewer installs but it won't work because my computer id is not valid. Zbrush however won't even install. A message keeps popping up when ever I run it saying it can find a valid computer ID. After paying all this money for Zbrush 4 it won't even work. I do have an academic version if that makes a difference. On a side note. I am still booting from the ##### cd because I have not been able to get ##### to work with my 1920x1080 monitor. It always goes back to 720x1280 on reboot. I also had a problem with ##### causing my internet and sound to stop working. Occasionally it would give me a "Your computer needs to shutdown" message on os x boot up and a "System up time in nanoseconds" when booting in verbose. I just decided to boot from CD instead of messing up my install multiple times just to get rid of a CD boot until I have some free time to mess with it. Here are my specs: Mac OS X: 10.6.3 (not upgrading yet, don't want to break install) CPU: Intel 960 i7 (3.06 ghz quad core with multithreading) MB: GA-X58A-ED3R rev. 2 GPU: Nvidia 9400 GT (1 gb) RAM: 6gb corsair 1600 ghz DDR3 HD: 500gb WD for mac, 500gb WD for Windows Vista (I recently downgraded from Xp) External HD:1 TB WD, 320 gb WD WD means Western Digital DVD: Sony 16x (nothing fancy) PSU: I have no idea what brand it was on sale and I bought it Thanks for any help you can give! As they say at Microsoft... You've got questions. We've got dancing paperclips! Gringo Vermelho
Upgrade to Chameleon 2.0 RC5. Set EthernetBuiltIn=y in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist. aceman90567
Ok, thank you! As you can see below my boot plist already has yes for built in Ethernet. Kernel mach_kernel Kernel Flags GraphicsEnabler Yes Timeout 1 Legacy Logo Yes EthernetBuiltIn Yes I will reboot now and see what happens. Thanks again! Gringo Vermelho
On OS X these "computer ID" type things used for registering software are usually generated from either the MAC address of EN0 (the first built-in ethernet device - as opposed to PCI expansion card or USB device) or the Hardware UUID you see in System Profiler. Chameleon, being much more than just a boot loader, takes care of both, the Hardware UUID is set automatically (pulled from somewhere in your motherboard's SMBIOS) and EthernetBuiltIn=y sets your primary networking device as built-in, even if it's a PCI expansion card. For this to work, a wired ethernet connection with a driver loaded for it is required. WiFi cannot be used. Outside IORegistryExplorer (a utility that comes with the Apple Developer Tools that no Hackintosh hobbyist should be without) I'm not sure where you can verify that your EN0 device is seen by the OS as built in. I'm on Windows right now and I don't remember off hand if this is shown in System Profiler. There's probably a Terminal command that will tell you as well. Sometimes, especially on Gigabyte boards, for EthernetBuiltIn (and GraphicsEnabler) to work, you must set PciRoot=1 in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist as well. Experiment with this - you can just type it on the Chameleon boot prompt to see if anything changes, before you decide to add it to /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist. If GraphicsEnabler is already working for you (check that you don't have any other injection methods active that is doing GraphicsEnabler's work!) then PciRoot=1 should not be necessary. aceman90567
Ok, thank you for your lengthy reply. I checked and I did no see any injectors that aren't the one I installed originally. I will have to try and see if I am able to get the methods you mentioned to work. Currently System Profiler says this is the SN: W895154Z5RU After updating Chameleon it did change but I was not sure if Zbrush wouldn't recognize it because it's a general SN for all Hackintosh computers. After some research I found out that most Hackintosh computers have exactly the same SN's. I am still unsure of why Zbrush wouldn't recognize my SN but I will have to see what I can dig up with the Chameleon boot up prompt. I do know that the Mac book Air doesn't have a built in ethernet port. Per: http://www.apple.com/macbookair/specs.html Currently I have my system registered as a iMac. I do have my computer on a wire because it doesn't have a wifi to receive wireless. I don't think that this could be causing the problem. I checked my boot plist and I did not find the pciRoot that you mentioned. Here is my Hardware UUID: A790E931-D4C6-5598-9AF5-3BEEA6C4BA5B Here is my Mac address: 00:ea:6e:7b:00:6c:f0:49 If that helps in any way. I guess I don't understand why Zbrush doesn't use the SN I have listed. Is it detecting that I have a hackintosh or is it checking the serial number against a list and doesn't find it? I have never had this problem before. Could this have been caused by an update? I did recently realize the teamviewer, a computer id using program didn't work anymore. Less than 3 days later I tried to install Zbrush and it didn't work either. I didn't install any updates so I am totally confused why it would happen now all of a sudden. Thanks aceman90567 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259349-program-installation-problems/#findComment-1699180 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
I doubt that the serial number has anything to do with it but if you want to pursue this, visit prasys' blog and read his guide on how to create your own "authentic" serial number. It goes in /Extra/smbios.plist. I know about the Macbook Air, it's just that nobody has figured out yet how that works so we can't do the same thing on Hacks.
