Raiders
Hello, So I recently updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.6, and as I booted up and logged in, I noticed that the Mac bar (top bar) had changed. NVEnabler caused Mac to freeze on reboot, thus I removed the kext. I guess this is what is causing the following problem. The problem is that the Mac Bar is now white, rather than gray, and is no longer curved/transparent. I want to know, how do I fix this and get the Mac bar to return to its previous state? Reinstalling NVEnabler kext just causes freezes again when I reboot, so obviously it's got to do with the graphics I'd assume. Prior to the update to 10.6.6, I was running 10.6.2 where everything was working fine and QE/CI was enabled. Now, it is not enabled, thus I want to fix it. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258948-8400m-gs-in-1066-no-qeci/ Share on other sites
ifrit05
If you have Chameleon installed, try the "Graphics Enabler" string. I think it supports your GPU. Raiders
If you have Chameleon installed, try the "Graphics Enabler" string. I think it supports your GPU. Didn't seem to work. The card is a NVIDIA 8400M GS 256MB, working fine in 10.6.2 but broken in 10.6.6 On the 10.6.2, the kext installed is 'NVEnabler'. I am currently contemplating reverting back to 10.6.2 until I find a fix for this issue, because Mac without QE/CI is just terrible Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258948-8400m-gs-in-1066-no-qeci/#findComment-1696374 Share on other sites

If you've already tried GraphicsEnabler=Yes and it doesn't work then may I suggest my simple custom EFI method HERE? Make sure GraphicEnabler=No and all enabler kexts are removed. Let me know if it works for you. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258948-8400m-gs-in-1066-no-qeci/#findComment-1698518 Share on other sites
