sirdemonbrown
heylo! i installed a Samsung 470 SSD drive on my 1st generation MacBook Pro. it works pretty well, but i'd like to update the firmware to the latest revision. from the Samsung support site, i downloaded and created (via the Windows 7 Samsung software) a FreeDos USB bootable thumb drive with the required Samsung firmware installer. i actually have successfully used this to update the firmware on my Samsung 470 SSD that resides in my Hackintosh. however, on my MBP (using reFit), the booting of the USB drive hangs. so what's the trick? thanx! sir demon brown Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/258892-booting-usb-freedos-thumb-drive-on-macbook-pro/ Share on other sites
3.14r2
http://refit.sourceforge.net/help/usb_disk.html You can probably do one of the two: Use a DOS boot CD Remove the SSD from Mac (if it is no longer under warranty) and place it to Hackintosh, then do an update.
