Hi guys,

First of all, thanks to InsanelyMac users. I got all the help from existing posts here to set up Snow Leopard 10.6.7 on my Dell Optiplex 745 Desktop machine.

Everything is working fine but the integrated Intel GMA 3000 is running in VESA mode. Which means I can't set resolution to my LCD monitor's native 1080p. Hardware acceleration isn't working too, I guess. (something called QE/CI?)

Please suggest a video card which will work perfectly. (preferably old and cheap) I have a PCIe x16 slot but it should be low profile and of smaller length. I think I have around 75-85 watts of power available.

Dell often ships this system with 256MB ATI Radeon™ X1300 Pro. Will it work? I need QE/CI too!

Thanks.

Try a GeForce 8400 GS (256 MB). They are fairly easy to get working with Chameleon Boot Loader v2 (at least RC4) with the built in "Graphics Enabler" without using modified kexts (drivers).

QE=Quartz Extreme

CI=Core Image

That card is fairly cheap in stores, and can handle HD resolutions nicely. :)
