Gary Coleman
I found I could do the same by dragging and dropping kext's to their designated folders, deleting kextcache and mkext, and restore file permission using disk utlitily. To me it's needless typing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25794-why-do-people-like-installing-kexts-using-commands-lines-in-terminal-instead-using-of-gui/ Share on other sites
domino
oh? Lets prove it. Copy all the files located in your /System/Library/Extensions folder to your desktop. Then delete all the files in the /System/Library/Extensions. Now copy the files back from your desktop to the /System/Library/Extensions and reboot. Let us know what happens. PS. don't forget to run disk util before you reboot. Technobob
I use the GUI all the time but I also log in as root before I do that, I hate the command line input Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25794-why-do-people-like-installing-kexts-using-commands-lines-in-terminal-instead-using-of-gui/#findComment-174613 Share on other sites
domino
By the time you have logged in as root then log out and log in as a normal user, i would have already typed: sudo touch and sudo reboot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25794-why-do-people-like-installing-kexts-using-commands-lines-in-terminal-instead-using-of-gui/#findComment-174616 Share on other sites
Technobob
By the time you have logged in as root then log out and log in as a normal user, i would have already typed: sudo touch and sudo reboot That's fine if your fast at typing and know exactly what to type, sure it's faster but for me I have to look up what I would need to type to install a kext. So for me logging out and using root is faster and easier and no command line. gwprod12
You always get this when you try to make a value judgement into a fact. "Why do you own a Seiko? Rolex's are so much better". "Why do you use Ubuntu? Gentoo is better!" "Why do you do X? Y is easier". Personal Preference.
