I've got a Dell Inspiron 1564 with the ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4330. My advice before getting the graphics working is to go ahead and update to 10.6.7. To get my computer to update properly, I used a separate install (on a 16 GB flash drive) and jumped from 10.6 to 10.6.3 to 10.6.7 using the Combo Updates (installer would crash, destroying the install, if I tried any other versions).

Once to get to 10.6.7, follow this step-by-step, to get full graphics.

1.) Go here and download the package and run it. This modifies the current kexts to support a lot of the Radeon 4xxx series of cards. (Thanks to netkas for that awesome package)

2.) Next, go and get the latest version of #####. It's on the tonymacx86 blog.

3.) When installing #####, select the following options (I'll do arrows to signify the tree paths):

 • ##### Install
 • System Utilities
 • Drivers & Bootloaders --> Kext & Enablers --> Graphics --> ATI 1.6.34.13 (Install the Injector and Patchs if you like)
 • Customization --> Boot Options --> 32-bit Apple Boot Screen
 • Customization --> Boot Options --> PCI Root ID Fix
 • Customization --> Boot Options --> Instant Menu
 • Customization --> Themes --> Classic or Remixed (Unless you like looking at a DOS-like boot screen)

4.) After it installs, reboot and boot into Mac OS X. If everything goes like is should, you should have full resolution with QE/CI enabled!

Now when you reboot, there's a strong possibility that your cursor may be messed up. Don't worry about it, we can fix it. Head to /System/Library/Extensions. Find RadeonHD.kext, right-click and click "Show Package Contents". In the contents folder, find info.plist, drag a copy out to the Desktop so you can modify it, and open it with TextEdit. Locate the lines that say:

<key>enableHWCursor</key>
<true/>

Replace the "true" with "false", save the file and drag it back into the folder you took it from. After it copies back in, reboot one more time, and the cursor should be back to normal!

This is still a work in progress. OpenGL still has problems, so while you've got good resolution and acceleration, a lot of video still doesn't work. It depends on the player. I'll keep updated as I figure out what works to get it running fully.

Hi Ligerzero459,

I did what you said in order to get the graphics working on my HP Probook 4720s with Mobility Radeon 4330.

Unfortunately it didn't work so far.

I installed the Retail DVD via the OSX86 Mod CD and updated to 10.6.8.

I downloaded and installed the QE/CI Exotic Patch for 10.6.8 from kexts.com.

##### was already installed, I reran it with everything you mentioned.

I rebooted and in verbose mode, it boots up to DSMOS arrived. Then a black screen appears. Nothing else happens. :-( Do you have any idea what to do?

Thanks in advance

hrox
