TheSurvivor
Okay, so, specs for my laptop are as follows: RAM: 4 gigs of RAM CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 (TL-52) 1.6GHz Graphics: ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 (SHOWS AS x200m. May pose an issue?) Chipset: (See Graphics?) LAN: RTL8139 WLAN: BCM94318MPG Now, I have read reviews of having Mac OS X run on a 5100, but for the life of me, I can't quite figure it out. Keep in mind, I'm new here, if wrong section, sorry. I have tried 3 releases of Mac OS X, and none worked. First was Leopard ToH Patched (?): Wouldn't get to installer. Second was Jas' release of 10.4.8: Got to installer, wouldn't show my HDD Third, SnowLeo, (10.6.2?): Loads, installs, shows bootloader. Won't boot, always kernel panics. Now, SnowLeo is the one I am aiming to use. I am sure it's my hardware, but it always says "Still waiting for root device" I have tried various combinations of -v, -x, and -f. It won't let me think of using -s either. I have used Ubuntu, and various other linux distros, and figured this would be no problem. Any help? Any help? try kalyway but it is leopard 10.5.2. check here. i suggest partitioning you hdd into two - one for leopard and the other for snow leopard. install leopard first and when everything is up and running, then try snow leopard. don't use a vanilla kernel as your cpu is amd. TheSurvivor
try kalyway but it is leopard 10.5.2. check here.i suggest partitioning you hdd into two - one for leopard and the other for snow leopard. install leopard first and when everything is up and running, then try snow leopard. don't use a vanilla kernel as your cpu is amd. I got the ISO you recommended. I tried to run it, but it always stops before the installer is even reached. First, I tried to straight install it, loading mach_kernel. it got to the installer, but during customization to install what I want, it locked up. (Might try this again) Second, I tried speedstepkernel. It got through the installer, and finished.(mach_kernel)Upon first run, I did "-v". It stopped at "Unknown SIGSEGV code 0"I also tried: "rd=Leopard -v" and got "Still waiting for root device"(modbinkernel)I tried "modbinkernel -v" and got the "Unknown SIGSEGV code 0" againTrying "modbinkernel rd=Leopard -v" got me "Still waiting for root device"(sleepkernel)Attempting "sleepkernel -v" and got the "Unknown SIGSEGV code 0" once moreAnd lastly, "sleepkernel rd=Leopard -v" got me to "Still waiting for root device" again.Did I do something wrong here? Lastly, I tried the modbinkernel for the installer and got:"RTL8139::fixEnetFlowControl - Flow Control is disabled" and then it stalled.Won't even get anywhere on that one. So, speedstep let me install, but I still can't boot, just like SnowLeo. Any suggestions? b1gdadd1
So, speedstep let me install, but I still can't boot, just like SnowLeo. Any suggestions? I'm assuming when you used speedstep to boot and install leopard, you selected the same kernel for installation, right? Does it go into kernel panic (kp) when you try to boot after installation? Boot with "-v" to see what's happening. You also have to choose the correct motherboard chipset. I think it'll cause "still waiting for root" if you chose the wrong one. Also, one of the issues you have to be aware of is when mounting DMG files. Check this link. Anyway, just keep trying. I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my old laptop Acer Aspire 5050, which had similar specs as your laptop, two years ago. So I can't remember all the details.
