Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted May 10, 2011 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Hi I currently have an nvidia gtx275, was considering picking up and ati 5870 before they disappear from the retail channel. I am running snow leopard on a ep45 ud3p with quad core 9550. I assume this would be plug and play given 5870's are currently an option for the mac pro. Is this a worthwhile upgrade performance wise? colorfuel Posted May 10, 2011 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Overall, the 5870 is about 33% faster in Games when playing in Windows. The difference in OSX could be a little bit lower. I dont have benchmarks here. If you do not feel like your games are running slow, then I recommend not to update. But it's your call. The 5870 should be an easy update to make.
