dsp
I need to clarify some things about DSDT patching. I have a Acer aspire M3630 PC, pretty much upgraded it to it's supported limit. (exept the CPU) Installed OSX 10.6.2 with nacom boot CD and latest chameleon, upgraded it to 10.6.7 I've done some basic DSDT patching in the past, and it worked quite well. Surely I overlooked a couple of patches for my DSDT, because I simply lack the knowledge. Then DSDT auto patcher came along, and it seems to work quite well if I were to use the ECS G31T-M patch. Of Course this is not "exactly" my motherboard (My acer motherboard remains unknown, this was the closest I could get to my specs) But it contains the same patches and more. Then I heard about SSDT, so I tried that for awhile until C/P-states would supposedly deal with these things, I'm not sure if it or what it does, but I used it anyways. I simply one by one deleted all of the kexts in the extensions folder (kinda knowing what it's for and if my DSDT would supposedly deal with it or not) exept for FakeSMC and networking kext and it runs without problems except waking from sleep (no picture & blowing fans) and most of the HW monitoring now showing up. Of course, I have no clue what I am exactly doing. Is this about all there is to patch for the Acer m3630? perhaps someone already fully patched it? Any tips and advice is welcome. (perhaps there is more then just SSDT/DSDT/kexts) Perhaps someone is a expert on this and would like to patch it to the limit? Thank you.

dsp
Thank you MaLd0n for your fast Reply, I appreciate it. I'm currently using Windows 7 now, so I need to install OSX first. I will be installing OSX right away. Is there anything left for me to do in Windows before I whipe out the disc and install OSX?
dsp
Thank you for your reply. I just finished installing OSX 10.6 and it now runs from boot loader from the nawcom boot CD. I've run "run_me" and I hereby send you "send_me.zip." In my topic you also asked for Chipset and Ich? I believe my chipset is a intel g31 using ICH7. Let me know if you need additional information about my system. Download send_me.zip Send_me.zip (Uploaded with Wetransfer) -edit (My apologies for not reading your "about me" page and therefore sending you a PM with the same content)

dsp
Thank you very much MaLd0n for your efforts. I've placed the DSDT in the extra folder. I don't exactly know which fixes you applied, so I'm not sure which kexts I should remove from the extensions folder. Do I still need to enable C/P-states in my boot.plist? Thanks again. dsp
Okay I've removed these kexts and ran the fixkext command from Nawcom's bootCD. -OpenHaltRestart.kext -NullCPUPowerManagement.kext The ones that still remains are as followed: -appleintelpiixata.kext -ioahciblockstorageinjector.kext -ioatafamily.kext -TatallyFixStillWaiting.kext (Worked without this kext before, simply forgot to deselect it) Do I still "need" these kexts? I removed all of them in the past just for the thrill, and it worked without actually knowing the consequences. Thank you very much for your effort! dsp
it runs natively?......you do not need to use these kexts I wouldn't exactly call it native since good ol' Acer gave me a computer with a broken Onboard LAN by default when I bought it. So I still need to use the Network kext for my PCI network card, other than that... yeah it does. (Yes, Onboard LAN is enabled in BIOS, no it does not light up when I insert an networkcable. And Windows (any), linux and OSX does not detect onboard LAN, so it must be broken) It performs quite well, my only concern was my PC eventually blowing up if I deleted some kexts. But it luckily never did. What is a proper benchmark tool to test functionality and performance of my hackintosh? Currently on Windows 7 again, but I'll go OSX any second again. Maybe it's time to use HDD images, instead of... norton ghost seem to mess up the MBR every single time ( could be related due to switching partition tables ) I'm amazed my hard drive is not dead yet. :/

dsp
Thank you, there is no 64-bit trial version available. Anyways, everything seems to work perfectly except: Sleep: Goes to sleep, but does not properly wake up as the fans blow like crazy. Temp: There is no temperature information available on Istat pro except for HDD temps. The only kexts that are still present in the Extra/extensions folder are: - fakesmc.kext - IoNetworkingFamily.kext

dsp
My Q6600, OVERCLOCK 3.6 GHzhttp://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/372663 That's something very different for a Q6600, nicely done! I am aware of it's over-clock ability, sadly my Acer BIOS doesn't allow me to change voltage values. Changing voltage values isn't even available according to a AMI BIOS editor. FSB @ 333 MHz is about as for as I can go, or it will not boot and I will have to reset CMOS. I've set it to 298 MHz and disabled intel EIST/C1E. Do you by chance have a clue on how to get waking from sleep & HW monitor working? I already tried to disable Legacy USB. It goes to sleep and it will wake up, but does not show picture while the system fans are going bezerk.

dsp
It's ok, I'm very thankful for your help, I appreciate it. I flashed my BIOS yesterday, set it to pretty much the same setting, does it hurt my DSDT?

dsp
Do you mean patch it manually or with your Auto patcher application? I don't know how to manually patch. (Most of it anyways) I recall basic stuff like HID=CID, fixing warnings etc... Your DSDT edit managed to manually open CD tray ( I had to press F12 in order to do that before ) I've downloaded auto patcher application from your topic, but were not able to find my system. It's a Acer Aspire M3630, grabbed the latest BIOS from Veriton M640 support page because it is the exact same MOBO. ( Former BIOS confirms it, this BIOS is used on Acer Veriton S640, M640, Aspire M3630, Aspire M5630. AMI R01-C3

dsp
I booted from MINI XP from hiren's BCD, Downloaded DSDTSE for Windows XP, extracted DSDT and compiled it to my hard drive. Clocked my Q6600 to about 2.98GHz Thank you. Download DSDT (Via wetransfer)
