Hey folks, been here for almost a week but haven't had a chance to post.

I'm currently have a custom built PC that has been running Windows 7 Ultimate for a quite a while and I recently discovered OSx86 after trialing one of the distro discs. Now I've decided to try and install Mac OS X on my Series 7 nForce motherboard (Asus P5N-T Deluxe) after reading the guide (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=184224) and have purchased a new hard disk and a Mac Pack (Snow Leopard 10.6.4 Retail, iWork & Life).

I burnt the nForceSLBoot132 boot disc (SATA DVD version) as per the guide and it booted into the bootloader just fine, then after putting in the Snow Leopard retail disc and it also loaded up, but it seems to freeze/hang on the grey install screen, even after leaving the disc to run for 20 minutes or more.

I presently have three hard drives (1x320GB 1x500GB + 1x1TB) installed. I disconnected the 320 and 500GB discs and tried running the installation again but still to no avail. Then I disconnected one of my DVD drives and ran the installation again, but still having freezing issues. I also removed one of the RAM sticks from the system (2x2GB PC2-6400), and it's still not going past the grey screen. Even after booting the disc into verbrose mode, I also noticed that the disc is booting into the 64bit mode, even after removing one of the RAM sticks.

The BIOS settings are set up correctly with AHCI being enabled by default and the power settings enabled to S3 only.

I've searched everywhere about this issue but I haven't had any luck. So has anyone tried to install Mac OS X on this particullar motherboard with any success? Any help would be much appreciated.

I've also attached the specs down below:

* Asus P5N-T Deluxe (Series 7 nForce w/ 780i chipset)

* Intel Core Duo (3.06Ghz 2 processor)

* Team Dark PC2-6400 2x2GB RAM

* NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT PCI-e Graphics Card

* Western Digital 320GB, 500GB & 1TB HDD

* Pioneer DVD-RW Drive

* Pioneer BD/DVD-RW Drive

Trying to do this very same thing right now.....

This is funny, my specs are close to yours, right down to the Pioneer DVD-RW, and SL Retail combo pack.

I'm looking for the kexts for this motherboard, it hangs at the pci config stage.

Also I'm booting off a usb hard drive, using ##### legacy. the guide is here

I have the supernforceata kext loaded into my extra's folder on the usb drive. It just hangs at the pci config part.

I just got a new sandy bridge macbook pro 13, so it helps trying to hack this thing in.

If I figure this out I will surely post it here.

Cheers mate

Btw I would definitely remove the extra drives for now, just to remove the chance of data loss is they have anything of value.

Try booting nForceSLBoot132 boot disc (SATA DVD version) with -v arch=i386.......but note that SATA DVDRWs tend to be very problematic on most nForce chipset MOBOs.......better to disconnect SATADVDRW and use PATA (IDE) DVDRW for the installation.......

 • 1 month later...

Thanks for your help folks! The nForceSLBoot132 boot disc didn't work out, even with the -v arch=i386 commands, so I downloaded nawcom's ModCD and the install went well, despite a few issues with the CD/DVD drives not reading discs after booting from the hard drive. But I've got a fully working nForce system, with the exception of the DVD drives.

Also apologies for the late reply, been very busy actually doing the same install, but on my Compaq Presario V6301AU (AMD Turion w/Legacy Kernel) notebook and that's been having major issues at the moment (trackpad freezes, system not responding etc).
