when the mac os x installer loads up instantly it comes up please restart computer using the power button

im guessing this is cause my bios isnt set to AHCI , well i didnt set it to AHCI so im guessing it not AHCI

but in my BIOS (phoienix BIOS) it doesnt give me a option to set my drive to AHCI

is there any way to do this or to get the option on a phoenix BIOS?

please help asap

thanks in advance

It may simply be a driver issue. Your install media does not have the right drivers for your hardware.

Contrary to popular belief, setting your SATA controller to AHCI mode is not a requirement for installing OS X. At least not on all drive controllers.

There are drivers for PATA mode as well, Intel ICHx controllers can work with AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext for example. I don't know what the situation is with nforce chipsets or other controllers.

If your PC has nforce chipset, try to find Verdant's nforce guides, he might have the drivers you need. If they exist.

Alternatively, you can try using external drives connected via USB.

You need to start in verbose mode.

What kind of computer/mobo do you have? What are you trying to install from, a boot CD combined with a retail MacOSX DVD or from some distro like Hazard or iAtkos? Are you following some guide or just winging it?

im trying to install mac os x leopard 10.5.6 using the latest boot cd and retail DVD

thanks for any help

Your laptop has Intel chipset so you should be able to use AppleIntelPIIATA.kext.

That is, if the problem is the drive controller. Boot with -v and post a photo of where it halts.

Then you should ask on the Tonymacx86 forum, they will be able to help you better.

Google will not help you, and I'm not joking, as you can see, short of breaking it in two with your own hands, that's how to erase a CD.

You cannot erase a CD-R and burn to it again.

That's only possible with a CD-RW.

oh ok well il search for another blank cd now if i dont find one il come back tomorow with one

and tell you how it goes am going to try nawcom boot cd

okay found two blank cd-r's no RW's knowing my luck lol

il update you in few mins how it goes with nawcom boot cd

FAIL! one CD has stuff on it 2nd one is scratched il look for more and keep you posted

tried with nawcom cd i think its cause of what it says here where i highlighted
