Uwe303
Hey,i can't boot after i installed Snow Leopard on my PC. As mentioned above i have: ASUS P8P67 Evo Intel i7 2600k (Non overclocked etc.) 8GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 4850 So first i followed glazman's Tutorial. There i got a blank white screen with the Retail Snow Leopard Disc. He uses the ##### Legacy Bootloader. Then i followed this Tutorial. He uses Andy's Boot CD. With the Snow Leopard CD now i get the "Restart your machine"-Screen. Then i tried iAtkos S3 V2 (10.6.3) and i was able to install it. I also configured the install and selected the drivers for my Graphic Card and disabled "fakeSMC". But when i want to boot i get the restart-screen with Andy's CD and a infinite Bootscreen with the built in one. ##### 3 also shows me only "Restart your machine" I also tried to boot with "-x" and "-x GraphicEnabler=yes" and "-x GraphicEnabler=no" and even with "cpus=1" and nothing works. I always get the infinite boot-screen. UPDATE: I removed 4GB from 8GB RAM and installed Snow Leopard. Now i get an infinite bootscreen again BUT i tried it with "-x" and now i can finally see a loading bar under the loading circle! It loads some seconds, then the bar disappears and it doesnt boots... I also tried to boot with "-v" and see what it says: It looks like first he loads succesfully, but then the CPU causes problems. I don't know why because i only use bootloaders that support Sandy Bridge processors... davidm71
I think you need to replace the 'mach_kernel' file on the root of the drive with a sandy bridge compatible one that matches that particular 10.6.3 install. Thats the problem. I had a similar problem when I got mine going on a P8P67 Deluxe. I used every boot CD out there and couldnt get it to work. Actually thats not true in that Andy has a new bootable iso P8P67 Pro V2 Cd out there as of a couple days ago. I never tried that one. But I can tell you in my case busratio, and speed step settings had nothing to do with it. With one of the boot loaders removing some ram helped but so did typing in 'maxmem=4096'. Someone had suggested that could have been one of my three video cards messing with the installer. I didn't feel like taking apart my system. What worked for me was a work around. I ended up hooking up my hard drive to my real Macbook Pro notebook via a usb adapter and did the installation through the 'osinstal.mpkg' file which can be found on a hidden folder somewhere on the install dvd. Then I did the install from within snow leopard onto the external drive and ran the combo update and bridgehelper and #####. Then I hooked the drive back to my main system and it booted up... I figure there must be an incompatibility with something on these deluxe and Evo boards... Not sure why... davidm71
Uhm how can i do this? I just edited my previous post. Take a look... Anyhow the problem is that you can't boot into installation to run ##### or any updates to get it going. Problem is the version of the install dvd is too low for our particular setup and I don't think there is a 10.6.3 sandy bridge kernel out there. Lowest version I could find was 10.6.6. So short of hooking your drive to another mac to run the updates you have to try running andy's latest iso and hope it works. You could also try updating your bios to the latest version and removing all cards but the most basic. In matter of fact if you have an old video card to try to use until you can boot into the system thats another idea. Its all trial and error when it comes to P67! Thats all I got! Good luck!
