do you have an windows 98 cd? if yes, run fdisk

Not quite as simple as that.

Running fdisk is all fine and dandy, but to just restore the original MBR to the drive, it's:

fdisk /mbr <press Enter>

Only takes a fraction of a second to do that. But, that won't restore XP's ability to boot. If you have the XP CD, boot off it, go into the Recovery Console, type:

fixmbr <press Enter>

then type:

fixboot <press Enter>

That restores the factory MBR to the drive (just like the fdisk /mbr command above), and the fixboot command fixes the boot.ini to boot from the XP partition. That won't do much for OSX however, and for getting that booting again (in a dual boot setup), you're on your own unless someone else cares to explain it.

I'm having difficulty myself getting *both* of them to boot from one bootloader. I've had success in the past when I installed OSX first and then Windows behind it; this time around I have 2K3 on the drive first and adding OSX to it isn't getting me the Darwin bootloader as I had hoped.

Oh well... the quest continues...

On OSX, edit the boot.plist file at "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist" and add the following:

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>10</string>

Be sure the OSX partition is set "active" (bootable)

had the same problem as br0adband.

fortunately your solution works! :(

After a fault update of 10.4.6, my PC always boot to Darwin!.

I've tried every possible way, manual MBR and Boot fixing, XP CD, 98 CD, boot managers, everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everytime, After doing so, the PC boot to XP, And I have the "boot.ini" choices, then after next reboot, no more XP, just Darwin.

Right now I'm booting from a boot manager (boot-us) Floppy, until I solve the problem, any ideas????
