floordance
Hello there, I'm using my hackintosh (desktop) for some years now and it's time to upgrade. I'm willing to spend some money on this, but I want it to be painlessly working (even with Lion). I read that the MSI Big Bang XPower motherboard is a good start as it installs nearly native, but I also read that some things might not work because there are too less ppl that use it as a hackintosh. Are there any other options you can recommend? Gigabyte, ASUS, ... What about the new SandyBridge processors are they natively supported? What about the newest Nvidia graphic cards generation? Here is a list of things that are important to me: Digital Audio Out (S/PDIF) quiet system, has not to be totally passive in general, but I don't like watching a film next to a turbine long-lasting system, I want to keep with it for the next years, that's why it should be kinda high-end (USB3, HDMI 1.4, ..) Bluetooth (3) built in motherboard that supports the Apple wireless devices. I love the keyboard but I hate having to dongle it again (and needing a second keyboard just for entering the system) everytime I startup my Hackintosh. CPU-V support Of course there may be other features of my concern, but these are the essentials. I know that a Mac Pro might be a good choice, but currently I'm just checking my options and I'd like to know about your recommendations. Thanks for your help in advance! About 8 months ago I built my first hackintosh system from these parts. Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard - uses triple channel memory and Gigabyte seems to be one of the best supported motherboards for running MacOS X. Intel i7 920 CPU because it was the most cost effective chip at that time. Today a 950 or 960 are about the same price. 12 GB triple channel RAM - just because it cost me only about $200 Nvidia 9800 GTX+ video card Hydro H50 water cooler for the CPU and Memory cooling fans I used a Cooler Master case and power supply I run Final Cut Pro and Logic Studio as well as Naive Instruments Komplete and other sound apps. I found a Vizio 26" monitor at Sams Club with 1900x1280 capability and it all cost me about $1800. I choose the i7 as a probable upgrade path and that has turned out to be a good one.
