XHyacinthX
Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to dual booting, and was hoping someone would be able to help. I've installed OS X 10.6.3 On my laptop. It's a Compaq Presario CQ62. HP 1444 motherboard AMD Athlon II P320 Dual core processor 2.1 GHz It supports SSE 1, 2, 3, and 4a 3Gb ddr3 ram Graphics are ATI Mobility Radeon 4200 The actual chipset is an AMD 785GX Southbridge SB800, rev 40 I had a hard drive that had a working copy of OS X, however that's all I could boot into. I put in a new 500gb Toshiba hard drive, partitioned it to 2 250gb partitions. I used the exact same settings I use with my last hard drive, but when I try to boot into OS X it hangs at the apple logo, with a NO sign over the logo, and the spinning gear keeps spinning. I've looked around for a few days now, and can't find anything. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Gringo Vermelho
Boot with -v to see error messages. I'm betting on "still waiting for root device". If you type that into google or the forum search you will find out what it means and what you can do about it.
XHyacinthX
How do I boot with -v? Use the install disk and go to terminal? If so, I just tried and it didn't work?
Gringo Vermelho
It's a boot flag, you type it at the boot prompt before booting OS X. How to get to the boot prompt depends on which boot loader you are using.
