vmenge
Hello everyone I've been trying to install Snow Leopard 10.6.6 on my PC but everytime I try to install my PC reboots even before installation begins. Amongst many error messages I get when using -v, the one that stands out is "Not an Intel platform: Restart Fix not applied". Can anyone help me fix this problem? I have searched the forums and the internet but I can't seem to find a solution. Gringo Vermelho
That's not an Intel platform, so.. That message comes from the Chameleon bootloader, you can disable the restartfix via com.apple.Boot.plist if that message is bothering you. Hopefully it should go away then. I don't think that "Restart fix not applied" has anything to do with what's happening. Let's see the other messages, take a photo and click "use full editor" to attach it to your post. Unfortunately the computer restarts way too fast for me to be able to take a picture properly, but from the continuous times I rebooted the PC I can tell what is written is something similar to this (found in another topic): ACPI table not found: DSDT.mml No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value Using PCI-Root-UID value: 0 nVaidia Unknown 256 NVaa No SMBIOS replacement found. Patched DMI Table Found SMBBIOS SystemID with: (#and letters) ACPI table not found: DSDT.mml ACPI table not found: SSDT.mml Not an Intel platform: Restart fix not applied ! PS: thank you for your swift reply! Gringo Vermelho
All of those messages come from the Chameleon bootloader, at that point the OS hasn't started to load yet. They're all status messages, not error messages. For example, "ACPI table not found" means that there is no DSDT.aml in /extra for Chameleon to load, but this is not a requirement, even less so on AMD based systems. So, not much to go on, it's very difficult to troubleshoot your issue. vmenge
The problem is that this is basically everything that appears ... Without using -v the computer reboots just after the Chameleon bootloader, less than a second after the Apple logo appears when installation is about to start. Using -s the computer also reboots without warning... Going to try some random commands and I'll reply if I get something. But then I got 3 kernel panics (still before installation begins) Pic is in attachments Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255100-not-an-intel-platform-restart-fix-not-applied/#findComment-1671645 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
The kernel panic is clearly caused by ApplePS2Controller.kext, so try disabling PS2 ports/mouse support in your BIOS (if you have that setting) and use USB keyboard + mouse instead of PS2 devices. While you're in the BIOS, disable other devices you don't need such as parallel- and serial ports, floppy drive etc. Post a new picture if you get any further. vmenge
Didn't have any option to disable PS2 ports, so I just removed the keyboard and am now using a USB one. Still, now I'm stuck here: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255100-not-an-intel-platform-restart-fix-not-applied/#findComment-1671941 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
In your BIOS, enable ACPI APIC and ACPI 2.0 support if you have those settings. And I repeat: While you're in the BIOS, disable other devices you don't need such as parallel- and serial ports, floppy drive etc. I can tell you haven't done that, drivers are being loaded for serial port and firewire. As you can clearly see, the problem is now with your USB controller.. Unplug all USB devices that aren't necessary during installation. See if anything changes. Try adding USBBusFix=y to your boot flags (before the -v). btw it's CPUS=1, not CPU=1. If that doesn't do anything, then try different USB settings in the BIOS, if you have a USB handoff setting try toggling it, toggle Legacy support, USB 2.0 and USB speed etc etc, try messing with those settings and see if you can get any further. EDIT Woah, that was a swift edit you pulled there. What installation method are you using, boot CD + retail DVD or a hacked install DVD? Are you using an external DVD drive? Try using the internal drive if possible. I am not familiar with that last error message and googling it doesn't help much. There's a post here on IM that says it has to do with your video card but it doesn't look like that to me. I don't think I can help you with this. vmenge
My past problem went away when I enabled ACPI 2.0, so I edited it real quick with my new problem I'm using Hazard's 10.6.6i DVD, andyes on an external DVD drive. Problem is, I don't have a internal drive PS: I'll disable FireWire and Serial Ports and try real quick again! Once again, thanks for the support Disabling serial port did nothing, and apparently I can't find where to disable FireWire in the BIOS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255100-not-an-intel-platform-restart-fix-not-applied/#findComment-1671957 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
If that doesn't do anything, I think you should try an external hard drive as well. Maybe what's happening is that OS X is looking for your hard drive at the same place where your DVD drive is - on the USB bus. vmenge
Does no one besides Gringo Vermelho, have any clue on how to fix this? EDIT: Fixed it. Apparently using a USB DVD drive it takes aroudn 10 minutes to load installation +_+ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/255100-not-an-intel-platform-restart-fix-not-applied/#findComment-1672478 Share on other sites
