nickname
i havent even been able to get past this screen. is there perhaps something we are missing? maybe the JaS release doenst work on the core duo. i've been told if u have duo core u have to disable one of the CPU's but i'm not sure how to do that. cant find it in the bios Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25440-error-message-installing-jas-1046/#findComment-172084 Share on other sites
Rammjet
just thought of something.. do i have to disable oneof the cpu's? if so how do i do that? When you first boot the DVD and it asks you for boot options before hitting Enter, type this: cpus=1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25440-error-message-installing-jas-1046/#findComment-172085 Share on other sites

Your problem is completely different. His problem is trying to boot the DVD. Your problem is trying to boot after you have installed. You said you selected SSE3 on an SSE2 compatible machine. That won't work. During the install, choose the custom packages carefully. Only choose Intel and SSE2. Don't choose AMD or SSE3. JaS
the patched kernels dont work on the core duo from what I hear, something in the patching for it to run on older cou's prevents it from working on the core duo. nickname
so does this mean that no matter what I cannot get OSx86 to work on my machine? or is there an older kernel or other kernel that works. so depressed. I was excited when I found out my CPU was SSE3 but now im going to cry! wahhhhh I tried this however and it seemed to get further than before. at the darwin boot i entered platform=X86PC cpus=1 -v I got a different error message this time around: [RTCLOCK] frequency 16600000000 (1662477640) if someone wants me to write out the entire message let me know, otherwise its pointless. Hey dude. saw you have the T2300. For some reason I cant even get into the install, it stops at the white startup screen with panic codes and says to restart (the ever so pleasant nationwide languages) any tips you can give? i am a newbie at this kind of stuff so I don't know much but it sounds like you need to go into the system bios and disable the dual core and reboot only using a single core. I currently have XP and OSX running on a single core but there is a way to set it up so OSX boots on a single core and XP boots using dual core but you'll have to search the forums to find out how b/c i have not done this yet. hope this helps So if this guy can get it up and going on his Duo Core T2300 why can't i!!! arghhh i want to cry like a little school girl. there has GOT to be a way around this Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/25440-error-message-installing-jas-1046/#findComment-173119 Share on other sites
