HD4850 Issue

For some reason I can’t seem to get netkas's new 10.6.7 and QE/CI patch for radeons to work on my Asus EAH 4850 512MB on 10.6.7 . Once I install the ati4800 kext I simply can’t boot (I've tried different combinations of the atiradeonx2000 kext). It just hangs. My device id is 0×9442. I’ve also tried modifying the original kext file and changing 0×94401002 0×944a1002 to 0×94421002 0×944a1002 with the same result.

 

I've also tried the following:

 

1) [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] 4xxx for 10.6.6/5 - Yields to where I can't even boot, even with -x -f flags

2) Adding graphics enabler yes to com.apple.boot.plist - Yields a gray screen

3) ATY_init doesn't seem to do anything

4) ATIFrameBuffer kext install yields same result as [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]

5) Evoenabler yeilds same gray screen issue

 

According to the netkas blog someone managed to get my exact card working on 10.6.7 (I had it working a long time ago on 10.6.2 but never backed anything up)

Try this way:

 

• Add the right id in ATI4800Controller.kext

• Install the kabyl's branche

• Add GraphicsEnabler=Yes in com.apple.boot.plist

 

Don't forget to eliminate ATY_init and other unnecessary thing that you've installed on your system.
