spcopsmac21
Here is my issue I have my system running smooth on the current specs Mac OSX 10.6.3 ( I am afraid to update to 10.6.4 or anything newer I am new to all of this) Windows 7 ultimate both OS are running on separate hard drives. Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR main board Intel Core 2 quad 9550 @ 2.8ghz Nvidia 9800GT 1GB card with dual DVI out PCI-E Nvidia 8400gs 512mb PCI (standard pci) 4gb DDR3 ram at 1066mhz dual 500gb wester digital 7200 rpm hard drives Dual dvd-rw sata drives I can get the Dual Graphics cards to work together with ZERO issue under windows 7. But when I try and boot into MAC OS X I get the multi language restart screen as soon as the system boots and hits the blue screen. I understand I have the 9800GT running on a PCI-E slot ,and the 8400GS on a PCI slot. In my BIOS I only have the option for "PCI, and PEG" , not PEG 2 option. I am aware I may have to make a new graphics sting but I am un aware as how to do this so I would love ANY HELP I CAN GET. Please with everyones infinite wisdom please advise. I will even send $$$ to the persons who helps me get this working via paypal!! MacUser2525
Search on "Aquamac EFI String" in your preferred search engine which should find his page that contains the pre-made stings for these cards. Once you have that then you will need to boot OS X with only the one card in the machine at a time to use the gfxutil program to find the bus location needed to put into the pre-made strings which you combine into the one string then convert to hex with the gfxutil tool to put into your com.apple.Boot.plist. You will also probably want a newer version of Chameleon installed so it will be able to automatically detect then use the card with the GraphicsEnabler Yes key/string pair in your com.apple.Boot.plist thus allowing you to get the information required from the gfxutil. So your basic procedure should be this: 1. Boot single card into OSX 2. gfxutil -f display used in terminal 3. Put the numbers/letters you get into the relevant file from Aquamac site 4. Repeat for second card 5. Combine the two files together then use the gfxutil command to convert the combined file from xml to hex for use in your com.apple.Boot.plist. Not sure here never having booted a PCI video card but if you have the latest version of Chameleon you can find and it is still not picking it up then try with either -s or -x for single user and safe mode respectively boot options. This will give you a text based booting where you can then change to the directory containing the gfxutil try to use the gfxutil command I mentioned before to see if it will give you any output. To get to the command prompt of Chameleon when it first starts to load during posting hit the F8 key then enter either of those options on it so you can try them out. To safely exit the command line use either shutdown -r now or shutdown -h now to restart or shutdown the system. Edit: You may want to look around/ask a question on the Aquamac forum to see if there is any way you can do this (get the required pciroot settings) in windows/linux as well.
