burtonium
Hello people, few weeks ago i decieded to make myself a hackintosh. I downloaded ##### and original SL DVD. I did some research and i ordered, let's say "only compatible HW". Unfortunatelly it's not that way actually Beside that i cannot get sound to work on the motherboard, I am more annoyed by my graphics card. I cannot make it work QE/CI anyhow. So far I've tryed 1.) GraphicsEnabler = Yes // not working - HW properties shows that i have 32mb vram 2.) NVenabler //nothing happens, it doesnt recognize my card, 32mb vram 3.) EFI string // i am curently using this one, but still no QE/CI but at least i managed to config my graphic card to be recognised as 1gb vram. I am looking forward to try to make custom DSDT. I've found a nice topic on it. I'll try it later and hope for the best. If there is anyone using same Graphic card and managed to get QE/CI support with it, please enlight me. I am stuck in position for a week now. Thanks in advance, feel free if you need anything else from my side. I am quite advanced user, so i guess it won't be a problem if you put some technical details on. I'll manage it.
Devout
I did some research, and found this thread!: http://osx86.co/f7/nv-8400gs-t1073/ Hope it helps!
burtonium
I've tryed those methods. Now HW profile shows me 1024mb of ram with nvenabler.kext, and no EFI string, but still cannot get support for QE/CI. I've found another interesting post considering 8400GS, so here is link. Haven't tryed it yet, will do it later. Interesting article about Nvidia 8400GS Will try it and report if succesfull.
burtonium
Ok, it worked for me. QE/CI enabled. Display control enabled from system preferences. I am using VGA-output, since my monitor is old LG. So How did you fix it?) I have the Asus EN84000GS and it works with Graphic disabler - "on", and installed kexts for GeForce 84000GS from http://www.kexts.com/view/923-nvidia_gefor..._nvenabler.html But after system update to 10.6.7 or 10.6.6 it's become not possible to boot. There is only blue screen. But on 10.6.3 everything works well. Did you have any problems with system updates?

Hi m8, I havent had any problems with upgrades, I just needed to install my drivers again after reboot. Thats all. My EN8400GS works with EFI string in com.apple.Boot.plist and by adding my card ID to the NVDANV50Hal.kext like in that tutorial i linked in my post. Thats all i have to do after every update. I hope this helps <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=i386</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>1</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist> NVDANV50Hal.kext <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>CFBundleDevelopmentRegion</key> <string>English</string> <key>CFBundleExecutable</key> <string>NVDANV50Hal</string> <key>CFBundleGetInfoString</key> <string>NVDANV50Hal 1.6.26.22 (256.00.15f04)</string> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.nvidia.nv50hal</string> <key>CFBundleInfoDictionaryVersion</key> <string>6.0</string> <key>CFBundleName</key> <string>NVIDIA NV50 Resman Kernel Extension</string> <key>CFBundlePackageType</key> <string>KEXT</string> <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key> <string>1.6.26</string> <key>CFBundleSignature</key> <string>????</string> <key>CFBundleVersion</key> <string>6.2.6</string> <key>IOKitPersonalities</key> <dict> <key>NVidiaRM</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.nvidia.nv50hal</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>NVDANV50HAL</string> <key>IOMatchCategory</key> <string>IOService</string> <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string> 0x10c310de&0xfff0ffff //ADDED BY ME; FOR MY EN 8400 GS custom !!! 0x00f010de&0xfff0ffff 0x019010de&0xfff0ffff 0x040010de&0xfff0ffff 0x042010de&0xfff0ffff 0x05e010de&0xfff8ffff 0x05f010de&0xfff0ffff 0x060010de&0xffe0ffff 0x062010de&0xffe0ffff 0x064010de&0xffe0ffff 0x06e010de&0xfff0ffff 0x086010de&0xffe0ffff 0x08a010de&0xffe0ffff 0x0a2010de&0xffa0ffff 0x0ca010de&0xffe0ffff </string> <key>IOProbeScore</key> <integer>60000</integer> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <string>IOPCIDevice</string> </dict> </dict> <key>OSBundleCompatibleVersion</key> <string>1.2.0</string> <key>OSBundleLibraries</key> <dict> <key>com.apple.NVDAResman</key> <string>1.2.0</string> <key>com.apple.kpi.iokit</key> <string>9.0.0</string> <key>com.apple.kpi.libkern</key> <string>9.0.0</string> </dict> <key>OSBundleRequired</key> <string>Safe Boot</string> </dict> </plist> Hope that helps. How to make EFI string for your card can be found above in the previous my posts. 2nd code window: Scroll down and look for my comment. Thats the line i added to the NVDANV50Hal.kext.
