deept3
Hello everyone My hackintosh runs beautifully, can't believe it works that great. The whole purpose I made it is to run Protools on it. And this is where the problem lies. I've installed using iAtkos S3 just because I had it. and it ran really good straight from the box after selecting the relevant drivers. Since I have two spare hard drives for this one, I made one of the a Time machine backup harddrive. Now my problem is this: Everytime I try to install Protools 8, after the installation it requires a restart. And after the restart the system won't boot normally or in verbose mode. it WILL boot in safeboot but i can't figure how to recover using time machine from there, or it doesn't work for some reason (i don't see the graphics and time warp thingie... i just get two finder windows and that's it) in verbose mode i noticed it kernel panics on ATIX2000 and shows it's dependencies too. I haven't installed that driver so i don't know why it shows up. I haven't repaired permissions or tried to boot with flags other than -x -v or -f My system specs: [CPU: Intel Q6600, MB: Asus P5Q-Pro, RAM: Some OCZ 4Gb 1066, VGA: Sapphire Radeon 4870X2, HD: 250gig and 500gigs both SATA, DVD: Samsung] thanks everyone! Gringo Vermelho
Don't waste your time with distros, especially on great hardware like that, most boards in the P5Q series are 99% retail compatible, very few patches are required. Use retail install media and a suitable boot CD. Italian user buoo has a great topic going with boot CDs for most of the P5Q series boards, including the P5Q Pro.
