Hi there,

I have struggling to get the Jas edition of 10.4.6 working on my PC. I currently have:

A8N-SLI Premium

2 Gig Crucial DRAM

Asus EAX1600XT Silent/TVD/256M/A

AMD X2 4200+

So the system installs no probs when using the Jas or Hotiso DVD. The problem happens when I reboot and I am presented with a black screen and a cursor in the top left.

Here are the facts I have figured out so far:

1. Can boot into Mac OS X using "-x" safe mode. That works fine, but no acceleration.

2. Because I performed the initial config, ie, keyboard type, country, user name etc whilst in safe mode, now when I reboot I get a black screen with a cursor on the top left, but also some coloured bars on the top and bottom. I can definiately confirm that this is the main OS X screen, as I can resize the coloured block on the bottom, which is in fact resizing the dock.

3. So it seems that graphics card is accepted, but the screen is not drawn properly for some reason.

4. I have also tried with a flashed Sapphire Video BIOS, and another Asus X1600XT BIOS... both which produce the same black screen. My card is 1002 71c0.

5. I have tried various "Graphics Mode" settings, which I can see alter the resolution, but still produce the same black screen with some coloured blocks.

I am sure its something fairly small.

Please help me, its driving me insane!

Thanks,

First the HotIso is my iso renamed.ok second is that there is an issue with the partition being set active sometimes so you need to set the os x partition active.

To do this boot the os x install dvd to the installer and go to Utilities-->terminal and open the terminal.

next type in bless -mount /Volumes/yourosxpartitionsname/ setBoot

where yourosxpartitionsname is the name you gave to the partition you installed os x onto

on my system its iMac so it would look like this

bless -mount /Volumes/iMac/ -setBoot

and thats it reboot without the dvd and you will boot into Os X

Hi Jas!

Thanks first of all for creating the 10.4.6 release!

I did have a b0 error initially, because the partition was not marked active. But its fine now. The system boots up without any issues in safe mode. Its just the graphics driver that is a problem.

BTW, I also performed the manual Boris method, but still no luck.
