Hi all, firstly i'd like to thank tuxx and darkgirl in the irc channel for trying to help me, turns out i didnt need their help but i got it anyway.

 

note: to all you unix / linux users, give us windows users a break, alot of us dont have the time and paitence you guys do, just go easy.

 

 

PLEASE note i heard ALLL about the ATI card problems and the kext file stuff, and well..for me it was non existent..i didnt delete any kext files or any of that. the gui is fine..everything has a nice frame rate/smooth and well

 

 

but yeah.

 

i got the Patched Mac OSx86 Install DVD and tried it.

 

firstly my stats

 

fortune technology laptop model 5620D (now out of production)

www.fortunetechnology.co.uk (usually a TERRIBLE laptop company)

had alot of bother from them with fixing hdd issues etc.

 

anyway

 

p4 2.4ghz

512ddr

40gb hdd

radeon 9000 mobility

 

downloaded the iso, burnt it using alcohol 120% at 4x

had a few issues installing (i.e the first install failed after the progress bar had gone all the way - it said to try again so i did...the second time was successful)

 

the only issue i had with installing it was my USB ethernet adapter i used to use in windows didnt work (which didnt surprise me)

 

so i duck taped my lan connection (from router) to my ethernet port (which is a bit shaky - which is why i use the usb adapter) - and that worked fine.

 

so i have the net working, and everything else is perfect, sound etc.

 

i havent really tried any hardcore programs like photoshop yet.

 

but browsing and video all seem fine.

nope i only had 1024x768

 

but my native res isnt 1280x800 its 1400x1280.

 

but we cant expect everything can we.

 

it'll happen..give it time
