Sjef_Arie
Hello everyone! I have a question about the intel gma 950. I have an aopen mini pc with intel 945gm en ich7m and coreduo t2050. This seemed a very nice mini-pc to install osx 10.6 on to me. I already did a succesful install on an i7 pc with hd5770 so i know a little bit what i am doing. I am using the myHack method with original osx retail CD (10.6.3), it uses chameleon 2 rc4 as bootloader. While the old macbooks use this graphics chip i thought it would be quite easy to get it to work, seems it isn't though. After installing i get chess and the ripple effect working right away so it seems QE/CI must be kind of working. However when i open frontrow or play a movie i get kernelpanic, and i have only the one resolution. I read thoroughly through the intel graphic section in this forum (very informative!). I tried all the kexts i could find, efi strings, DSDT patching, non seem to work for me. All i get is sometimes transparent menu bar (which i had after install already) and sometimes not (so no QE). Is there anything else i can try? Or maybe someone that has the same chipset/graphics that solved the problem? I am reinstalling everything now, and just keep trying things. Thanks much in advance! Sjef_Arie
I have finally got it to work and am very happy right now watching a 720p movie I know i am replying to my own post but i think this might be very useful for people with similar problems! I had tried virtually everything for my gma950 (27a7 version), but seems it is pretty straight forward. In the intel graphics section search for the topic from neos about his vaio. On the second page there is the framebuffer (old version) which he succesfully used. I tried that but got a blue screen without mouse. However i had the good idea of logging in with remote desktop and that did show the desktop. So apparently the blue screen was because of osx thinking it wasnt the primary screen. So i took a DVI to VGA converter, which i had lying around, and plugged in the same monitor via VGA (PC->adapter->monitor) And BAM! full QE/CI working and i could choose my resolution for the first time! Also no more kernelpanics on screensaver or movies or frontrow. So all it took was a simple old framebuffer and a VGA adapter. Had i only known this before it would have saved me many hours Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/250474-getting-gma-950-on-945gm-chipset-to-work/#findComment-1650743 Share on other sites
