fuzmaster
I just recently made a hackintosh following the most recent instructions at to a T. I'm quite new to the mac scene to let you guys know. Throughout the entire installation process I didn't have sound for some reason, and I was wondering what the problem was, or probably some common solutions to this problem Facts that can help 1. I had the ##### setup that came before the newest version that came out a couple of other day. I checked off ##### and System Utilities and then clicked continue. 2. Like I said, I'm new to making a Hackintosh and im trying to understand what Kexts are. But from what I did, I had the app named Kext Utility and dragged two kext files named VoodooHDA.kext and RealtekR1000SL.kext onto the kext utility and installed them no problem. 3. What I'm using is as follows -P7P55D EVO Motherboard -Nvidia gtx 260 graphics card -intel core i7 processor Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/250350-no-sound-on-my-hackintosh/ Share on other sites
InsideMac
Kexts are pretty much like drivers as you probably already know. It means Kernel Extensions and can enable the kernel to do things that it couldn't without the extension On boot up pretty much all of the Kexts are loaded, some of them spring to life when they see a piece of hardware they are assigned to. As for your sound it looks as if the Sound which is an onboard VIA VT1828 is not natively compatible. This means that you need VoodooHDA which is what you have what you will need to do is remove AppleHDA.kext Go into Terminal and type "rm -f /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext" This should keep from any conflict happening between the two. Hope this helped! Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/250350-no-sound-on-my-hackintosh/#findComment-1649487 Share on other sites
