I've got almost the exact same rig with a core i5. I'm able to get 10.6.3 (which is what's on the DVD) installed and working beautifully, but when I go install the combo update for 10.6.6 I can't get it to boot and I get a perpetual spinny and a circle with a line through it on the silver apple screen.

Any tips tricks, guides would be helpful. Thanks,

If you don't have discrete graphics, you need to boot into single user mode or use a rescue disk and move away AppleIntelHDGraphics*.kext

What happened is that post 10.6.3, the 5700MHD is listed in those kext and when they are loaded, for some reason it kicks display over to the optional graphics path of discrete graphics.
