[SOLVED] HP DV7 won't boot after SL installation following Zack's Guide

I am a newbie here and am trying to install SL 10.6.4 on my HP dv7-3186cl laptop following Zack's "[GUIDE] HP DV7, Windows 7 and Snow Leopard" <http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=218768>.

Here is the specs of my laptop:

HP dv7-3186cl

Intel Core i5-430M 2.27GHz

4GB DDR3 Memory

NVIDIA G-105M (512MB dedicated)

New OEM 640GB Samsung 7200RPM HD

BIOS version: F.15

BIOS vendor: Insysde

I used MBCD.iso for the OS X installation and everything went smoothly as described in Zack's guide.

I then followed the Post Installation steps and installed the Chameleon bootloader and copied the files. But I skipped step 4 and didn't install any "Extra Kexts and Fixes" since I was unclear which ones were necessary and which ones were optional. I thought I could come back and fix the non-working devices one by one.

After installed Qoopz 10.4.0 legacy kernel and 10.6.4. combo update, I went to reboot the machine from my HD without the Boot CD. But it only gave me the silver Apple boot screen for 1~2 seconds then the screen went black and then the Chameleon bootloader screen appeared again.

The loader version is: Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chameleon v2.0-RC4 r

I tried to boot with -v flag and saw the loader loading all the kinds of kext files. But at the end of loading the kexts, it printed the following lines:

No DSDT found, using 0 as uid value.

nVidia Unknown 512MB NVa8 [10de:0a68] :: PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)

Loaded HFS+ file: [Extra/smbios.plist] 1650 bytes from 4255560.

Patched DMI Table.

No DSDT replacement found. Leaving ACPI data as is

Starting Darwin x86

then the screen went black and the laptop restarted and back to the Chameleon loader screen again.

I wonder if I am missing some kexts? I'd appreciate any suggestion. Attached is the screenshot of the last page of the log.

try boot with -v busratio=17

With -v busratio=17, it gave me a KP after finishing loading the kexts. It seems to relate to something called "org.slice.driver.FakeSMCRadeon". Among other things, it says:

Kernel Extension in backtrace (with dependencies):

org.slice.driver.FakeSMCRadeon(1.0)@0x5d641000->0x5d645fff

dependency: org.netkas.FakeSMC(2.7.2)@0x5657b000

dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.3)@0x565c5000

This is strange since my graphic card is nVidia G-105M. Any idea?

A picture of the KP is attached here.post-199049-1298705314_thumb.jpg

[EDIT - SOLVED] Very importan to remove all the ATI* kexts from /S/L/E and boot with "-f" flag. That, together with the "busratio=17" option, solved the KP problem. I can successfully boot into 10.6.4 now.
