johnthor
I cannot seem to install the Mac OSX to my laptop. Using the Apple DVD, The Mac apple logo with a "spinning" circle runs forever without getting to the install screen. Specs 1.66 GHz Core 2 (T5500) 2 GB DDR2 Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG internal wifi card Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M SigmaTel HD Audio 1) Purchased the DVD from apple (10.6.3) 2) Burned the D620SLV1.iso to CD 3) Dual boot system (XP and hopefully MAC os) 4) re-partitioned the 80g harddrive with 40g unformated 5) Moved the XP partition to the second partition, leaving the first for the MAC os 6) Booted up fine with D620SLV1.iso, changed to the mac DVD and selected the DVD install 7) the Mac apple logo with a "spinning" circle runs forever without getting to the install screen. I was able to install the iDeneb.iso but I'm trying to stick with the real 10.6.3 version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. PhunkMaZ
Boot into osx setup using -v or select the install dvd, press the down key and start in verbose-mode. Now you should be able to see the boot-log. If loading stops tell us where. I tried the reboot with the retail DVD and typed "-v" several times since a prompt did not come up. the install started in verbose mode...I received 2 pages of warning like: Refusing new kext com.apple.iokit.IOgraphics, already loaded v1.7.1. dothacker
your wifi card is NOT GOING TO BE SUPPORTED. if you do MORE research and use the search function, you'll find out that 3945ABG is not going to work. Yes, I realized the wifi card would not work. I was trying to get the basic install working before sinking more $ into the hackintosh. After the other stuff worked, I would buy the latest wifi card. I also tried the "BOOT-132-D620v2.iso" install with following results. "Darwin/86 boot v5.0.132_dfe_r146 Loading HFS+ file.... reading configuration file 'rd(0,1.... starting boot-uuid to: ..... loading Darwin/x86" waiting and waiting and waiting....15 minutes and shut the thing down Since the other attempt pointed at a NTFS issue I am not sure if it does not like my moving of the hd partitions.....maybe a fresh bigger HD is in order with the later dual boot install AFTER mac osx installed???? John March 2 update: I broke down an purchased a new 320g hard drive. No improvement...I researched my symptoms and found other people that had the same spinning apple logo with the retail DVD but I could not find anyone that was successful. 1) Is there any D620 Bios settings that need to be adjusted for this laptop. I checked and it appears the HD settings cannot be adjusted in in rev A10. 2) Is there anyone out there..... johnthor
AHCI? did you do that in the bios? and try booting with -v cpus=1... gotta force the computer to boot with 1 core. The D620 bios does not allow any HD settings changes. It's the oddest bios I've seen. The only selection for the HD is the boot order? I noticed you have the iAtkos S3 v2 working on your d630. The challenge I have is trying to figure out which kext to use for my hardware. The available kext options during the install does not match the hardware??? Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller (which of the 4 broadcom options?) NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M (which of the 3 Nvida options?) SigmaTel HD Audio (No SigmaTel options...Voodo audio?) Still do not understand why the D620SLV1.iso cd runs fine but the 10.6.3 retail DVD crashes... From my research, prior to buying the d620, it appeared this was a simple install...with the HD, retail dvd and 1 week of debug I could have bought a used Mac laptop. dothacker
Your D620 is weird... u sure you have the latest bios in there? Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/249081-dell-d620-install-problem/#findComment-1648594 Share on other sites
johnthor
Your D620 is weird... u sure you have the latest bios in there? I have the last A10 bios Dell released for the D620. I was able to get ideneb 10.5.8 to install and boot properly with Windows 7. Applied the kext files to get Ethernet, keyboard, mouse and sound to work. Video is a little flaky... Thought maybe I could step from a working ideneb to the retail 10.6.3 DVD only to have the install restart the laptop midway through installation and corrupting the install. Another clean install of ideneb ....that used mac laptop is looking attractive...but now it's become personal...
