OK, this is truly a noob question but I can't seem to figure it out: I'm looking to edit my DSDT for a GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard, but can't figure out how to determine the BIOS version of my motherboard. When I boot, I get a tag that says "Version 1.06.78" but everyone else is talking about version numbers like F9, FB, etc. and I see nothing like this.

Incidentally, I thought I'd go ahead and update the BIOS just so I'd have a known version to work from, but when trying to flash using QBIOS all the versions I downloaded from the Gigabyte site return an "invalid file" message. Yes, I unpacked the file to a binary first and placed it on a USB thumb drive...

Booting into Windows is not an option currently; is there an obvious way to detect the BIOS version that I'm just not seeing?

Your mobo might be Rev. 1.0, Rev. 1.1, or Revision 1.6. You should download a bios that is available under the revison version of the actual GA-EP45-UD3P that you own.

When you boot up, at the beginning you can usually press "delete" or some function key which allows you to enter into the Bios. Very often the Bios version is listed there, look around. I'm not sure about the revision number. Mine was located on the motherboard and I have a Gigabyte board.

They don't recommend updating the bios if it is working ok. The DSDT.aml database file shows the bios version that dsdt.aml was made with. Your bios details should match the dsdt bios details that you decide to use. DSDTs have to match your system just about exactly.

Finally found it. The hardware revision is 1.1 and the BIOS is F9. It flashes on the screen for about .1 second after the POST completes; I took a video and single-framed through it. A good thing, too, because it only was up there for about 2 frames!

http://www.tonymacx86.com/dsdt.php# I didn't see a DSDT.aml listed for GA-EP45-UD3P there, but I found some good links if you haven't seen them already.

"The EP45UD3P Snow Leopard install package. This package allows you to skip all the command line work in my last guide, and you can download it here." There are screenshots of how to setup Bios.

This is his first guide, the link above it is more up to date.

Another successful intall of your GA-EP45-UD3P

A DSDT.aml using F9 bios for GA-EP45-UD3P. The 1.6 revision doesn't have an F9 bios.

I've seen a DSDT-patcher program on the insanelymac forum, I don't know well it works, and I haven't tested any of this since I don't own your mobo.
