Hey all,

I have an Asus G51 JX -a1 laptop that has 6 gigs of ram, core i7 720qm, nvidia geforce gts 360M video card.

I was following a guide that someone wrote about installing to a similar laptop and basically this is whats happening.

I have a retail mac os x 10.6.3 cd and I was using nawcom's bootloader

-I started the bootloader, and eventually swapped the cd's got to the install screen create 2 partition drive using GUID partiton table (I think that's what it is called) and set the first partiton to mac os extended(Journaled)

-Install seemed to go fine didn't have any issues I restarted swapped cd's again and this time picked to boot from the MAC drive i created

-Got the welcome screen and went through the startup stuff

-But here is the first issue. When I get to the Create new account and type my info and hit next it just hangs on this screen saying creating new account... it never gets passed this so I restart the computer and next time I log in i'm at the login screen and I can login with the account/password I set up

-Next I copy over the 10.6.6 combo update and ##### extract both and just before installing I repair my disc permissions.

-the 10.6.6 update goes all the way till there is < 1 min left and then I get the error.

I have attached the log it created

The only thing I can think of is since ##### states you should only have 4 gigs of ram, and mine has 6 could that be causing the error? I haven't tried removing ram yet from my laptop but if that's what is needed ill give it a shot thanks.

I think you should first try to install the update with only max. 4 Gig ram installed.

If it fails again you can be sure that the memory isn't the problem.

finally got it working, I think it was due to the error I got after rebooting where I couldn't log in with the create a user. Once I created a new one tried the update it worked.
