Ok, so basically I wanted to build a Hackintosh with the EVGA X58, the Nvidia GTX 260(216) and the I7 930. My DVD Drive uses the correct connection. I reset my motherboard to its default settings, and enabled AHCP(or whatever it is.) Anyways, I put the bootloader(I use #####) to boot a brand new snow leopard installation CD that I just bought, and I can't get past the window with the apple loading because then it just goes to a black screen and my monitor turns off. I think it should have something to do with the BIOS settings, or with my graphics card.

Oh yes, and to state the obvious, I am a complete noob, I may have opened up a dumb thread, yes yes, I know. But I haven't seen this problem happen to anyone else, they have post-installation problems, while I can't even begin the installation. ;) Can somebody PLEASE help me??

Ok, so I just found out that my motherboard is a EVGA X58 Sli LE. I've heard many people can install Snow Leopard just fine with Empire EFI x58, so I decided to try it, and it doesn't even get past the Mac loading screen, just like before. I only get a black screen and my monitor turns off. I don't have another mac so I can't use it to help me with this install, and I don't know what could be wrong, although since the screen goes black, I think it's a video card problem.

Hi, I was having the exact same problems as you, (same video card but I'm using a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 motherboard). I initially followed the guide for my board in these forums, but after having no luck with that I switched to using ##### - same issue. Eventually I came across a number of posts suggesting to run the installer via

-x -v PciRoot=1

which solved the issue for me.

I haven't yet tried booting into my install without these switches though (still in the process of updating & sorting out #####) so I can't say for sure if you can skip them once you've got a working install.

Hope that helps.

Have you tried with another boot CD? I've had the same problem (with much older hardware) and I solved it using Nawcom's BootCD which worked flawlessly for me.

Another workaround is to have the BIOS parameter "SATA Emulation" (or whatever it is) set to "Separate IDE controller" or "Combined IDE controller" instead of "AHCI".

Anyway try booting with -v and -x flags just to see where the booting process stops.

Have fun and enjoy os x.

Ciao Luciano
