WhizZ
Hi all, After alot of time I want to get osx86 on my pc again. So I used iAtkos S3 10.6.3 to install the OS on my system. what worked flawlessly. (without drivers, so no vga/sound etc) just the important things. I read on a iAtkos forum that i could use the Apple updater, so i updated to 10.6.6. But i hangs on : ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement) timed out I tried searching but I get so many posts and i dont really find a solution. I tried disabling the HPET function but that didnt do a thing. also tried booting in -v -x and arch=i368 but wont work =( My system: Gigabyte X48-DS5 Intel Q9950 4x1GB DDR2 1066mhz Sapphire HD5770 Can any one tell me how i fix this issue ? FKA
Either you're not using a NullCPUpowermanagement.kext or you are using SleepEnabler.kext So either remove sleepenabler.kext or install NullCPUPower ....kext D Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1639566 Share on other sites

As a last ditch effort you can try typing at boot: GenerateCStates=Yes GeneratePStates=Yes This will only work if you have installed Chameleon to you OSX install and have used a current version of chameleon 2 RC5. Also If you have a dsdt.aml file for your motherboard you can try saving it to a USB stick and at Chameleon boot prompt type: DSDT=/Volumes/NAMEOFUSBKEY/dsdt.aml D Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1639579 Share on other sites
waqy
I get this problem after I have installed SL on my Lenovo t410 Core i5 4 GB Ram laptop. The OS will load up and freeze at the same point If I delete sleepenabler.kext should it allow me to boot into SL after the successful install? WhizZ
As a last ditch effort you can try typing at boot: GenerateCStates=Yes GeneratePStates=Yes That didnt work either, only thing that happend is that a new line appeared beneath the Appleintelcpupowermanagement line. that is: BootCache: hit rate below threshold ( 2661 hits on 5323 lookups ) But i guess that isnt telling much Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1639605 Share on other sites

WhizZ
So i did a reinstall, back at 10.6.3 again. I installed NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, and made sure there was no sleepenabler.kext ( there wasnt any ). I think i'm going to update step by step. so 10.6.4 at first. are there any guides / information pages regarding updating osx86 ? Just search the forum for "10.6.6 update" They're not really guides just a collection of peoples experiences. Note there isn't support for the ATI 5770 until 10.6.4 (i think) and even then you need to use one of the Chameleon booters that has GraphicsEnabler support for it. Might be an idea to install ATY_init.kext before you update and make sure you don't have GraphicsEnabler=Yes in you com.apple.boot.plist. I always have GFX problems when going from 10.6.0 to 10.6.6 with my 5770! Also note ATY_init.kext id 32bit only so you will need to use arch=i386. D Also note - I'm starting to really dislike fault finding with distro installs!! Is there no way to install the HD5770 at 64bit ? Im using Chameleon bootloader I guess its better to build a DSDT file aint it ? dunno how but i can look into that ofcourse Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1639672 Share on other sites

But yes with Kabyls version of Chameleon you can use GraphicsEnabler for the 5770. As I said I have GFX problems going from 10.6.0 to 10.6.6 so you will be best to insatll ATY_init now! I ran into the same problem again when updating to 10.6.5. I did notice it changed the darwin kernel from 10.4.0 to 10.5.0 can that cause any problems ? i'm really getting a headache right now haha Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1639689 Share on other sites
WhizZ
nobody? i really want this to be solved. still same error, does there have to be a graphics card driver installed when going from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5 ? cause i have no extra drivers installed yet since i want to do that at the end.. Bloody hell mate you're impatient! I've told you twice now to install a driver for your GFX card before you update - so what do you think!!! And have you bothered to look to see if NullCPUPowermanagenet.kext was loading before you ran the update? I very much doubt it! Go do some reading, you seem to be relatively smart, so I'm sure you can work it out from here on ! And please remember when using this forum - People are offering thier help for free, so don't be so demanding .. D Sorry for being so impatient ^^ just can stand it when something is not working and i cant fix it ;D makes me sleep bad! I guess if i install the NullCPUPowermanagenet.kext is should load by default? if not how can i check if it's running ? And about the GFXcard, whats the difference between 64bit and 32bit? i would love running 64bit. but since ATY_init.kext is 32bit does that affect the ram to 3GB ? ( like in windows ? ) If there is any other way for the GFX card to be installed in 64bit i would love to hear that since i'm a Adobe Premiere/After effects user and those need 64bit OS. ( so the kabyls version support full hardware support for adobe etc ? ) Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1640026 Share on other sites
FKA
I guess if i install the NullCPUPowermanagenet.kext is should load by default? if not how can i check if it's running ? in terminal type kextstat and see if you can see NullCPUPowermanagment.kext listed. And about the GFXcard, whats the difference between 64bit and 32bit? i would love running 64bit. but since ATY_init.kext is 32bit does that affect the ram to 3GB ? ( like in windows ? ) NO 32bit EFI can not see more than 4GB of RAM. you're talking about 32 vs 64 bit kernel. You will see no differance running 32bit kernel! If there is any other way for the GFX card to be installed in 64bit i would love to hear that since i'm a Adobe Premiere/After effects user and those need 64bit OS. Again I have already mentioned this to you - So go read back! I'm not posting here again mate, I'm a bit annoyed that you're not even reading what I've posted on your thread! You are a typical example of somebody who is expecting all the answers given to you on a plate. Do yourself a favour and do some reading - for example: the 32bit EFI v64 bit EFI is well documented on the web and a simple google search and a small amount of reading could have answered your questions! Good luck D Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247868-appleintelcpupowermanagement-timed-out-after-update/#findComment-1640043 Share on other sites
