mattrw89
Hello everyone, I have been trying to follow http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185097 to install SL on my desktop. I used the script to create a Preboot CD and can start the installer which is on my flash drive. When I start the install a lot of text flashes across my screen... telling me that it is loading kexts, even that it loads the supposedly appropriate kext for my EVGA GTX 260 896MB card. When I created the Preboot CD I did select the GTX 260 896MB code. The issue is that my screen then goes black (Monitor loses sync and goes to sleep while computer is still on). I have tried using "GraphicsEnabler=Yes" with no luck. I have also tried using ##### with slightly more luck but still no success. With ##### I at least see the gray apple screen with the spinny load thing which comes right before the language selection. After that the same issue occurs, with my monitor losing sync. Thanks for any help that you all can provide. AustinRoepke
If it is a sleep problem, I think everyone has that problem. There's a fix for that in the ##### installer. Sounds like a graphics problem. boot with verbose ( type '-v' sans the ' marks at the boot: screen in #####) and it should run until it has an error, which will be displayed. I suggest running tonymacx86's NVIDIA update. That is the only thing that worked perfectly for me (running 460 gtx). Last-ditch option: wipe partition ##### install 10.6.3 (iATKOS or otherwise) reboot install 10.6.6 update, ##### or DSDT, and NVIDIA update, according to Tonymacx86's guide here: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/ibo...ac-os-x-on.html ) cross fingers and reboot. Narayana
Hello- I had the same issue. I was able to use my old EFI string on my previously-working install to get it working properly. The EFI string that worked with my 260 is attached EFI_string.txt Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/247123-black-screen-loading-sl-installer-core-i7-w-gtx-260/#findComment-1685828 Share on other sites
