1. [Guide] Getting XFX HD6850 connectors to work

Has anyone used this method to get a Sapphire 6850 1GB properly? If so, would you mind uploading your ATI6000Controller? It would be of incredible help. Thanks!
2. Hello- I am parting ways with my Black Dell Mini 9 running Snow Leopard. The computer is in good shape and everything works properly. I had the battery replaced under warranty and it has sat unused (for about a year) since. The computer sleeps/awakes on lid open/close. The sale will also include 2 authentic dell chargers and a fitted Waterfield sleeve (that I bought for ~$60). The netbook has been used and has some minor surface scratches around on the lid and palm rests, but is otherwise in excellent working condition. It has been freshly formatted and is awaiting a new owner! Hardware: Intel Atom N270 @ 1.6Ghz 2 GB RAM (Upgraded) 32GB SSD (Upgraded) 8.9" Screen (Always kept at lowest brightness, no dead pixels) 1.3MP Webcam (Upgraded) 802.11N and Bluetooth (Upgraded) Software: Mac OS X: Snow Leopard (10.6.2) Microsoft Office 2011 iLife: iPhoto and iWeb World of Goo I am looking to sell for $225 (USD) OBO. Buyer will pay actual shipping to anywhere in the world. PM me if interested! (I'll be sure to post pictures later).
3. I had the same issue a few posts before, but was able to resolve it by disabling firewire in the BIOS for the install. I reenabled it later and have no KPs.
4. [Fixed] Ghost display on MSI R5770 Hawk in Lion

tallest, in addition to modifying ATIController5000.kext to replace the trailing 01 with 05 for the HDMI string, I believe you will need a modified 10.7.2 AppleHDA (for your on board sound) as well as DSDT edits to enable the on board sound. I was able to do this using the appropriate method for my ALC889 (modified 10.7.2 AppleHDA and DSDT edit). Finally, you need to make the DSDT edits outline in toleda's post that I linked to above.
5. I am trying to install Lion on my workstation using this method after the success I had loading onto my HTPC, but come across one issue: As soon as the Chameleon GUI loads, everything boots slowly. I have timeout=4 and it takes around 10-15 seconds (instead of four). I also have verbose mode on and it only loads maybe 3 kexts a second. It takes minutes to completely load all the kexts up. After lion finally boots, everything seems to work properly (speed wise). I was worried something was wrong with the Intel SSD, but it reports similar speeds (using xbench on my HTPC) as it does on the workstation. Any ideas on what this might be? Thanks!
6. [Fixed] Ghost display on MSI R5770 Hawk in Lion

FINALLY! I was able to get HDMI sound (without the ghost screen) through my R5770 in 10.7.2: 1. I was able to get my ALC889 working using this kext and DSDT edit. 2. Followed toleda's instructions here. 3. Used ATIController5000.kext that tallest provided and changed the last 01 for the hdmi string to 05. Thanks to the authors of the above! Now, I'm off to rock some LCD Soundsystem (and turn off verbose mode)!
7. [Fixed] Ghost display on MSI R5770 Hawk in Lion

I'm still having trouble getting my 5770 working in Lion with no ghost image and HDMI sound. So far, this is what I have done: 1. Followed directions on enabling HDMI sound on toleda's guide here. 2. Modified ATIController5000 by swapping searching/replacing Vervet personality hex string with those provided by jsl in post #10. i.e. I searched each line of Vervet in ATIController5000 and replaced with the ones given. Each string (i.e. line of the original vervet) was replaced twice. jsl's string for HDMI sound (i.e. replacing the last 01 for HDMI with 05) was consistent with the changes in toleda's guide above. 3. added the following to org.Chameleon.Boot.plist: <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>AtiConfig</key> <string>Vervet</string> Unfortunately, this neither fixed the ghost display or gave me HDMI sound. I will need to start again, undoing the changes I have made. If anyone has HDMI sound working without the ghost display in Lion 64-bit, any pointers would be greatly appreciated. This is the last thing i need to get my HTPC up and running... Thanks! EDIT: tallest, looking at your post for the Eulemer fix that worked for you, do you think replacing the last 01 with 05 (which should enable HDMI sound) and setting AtiConfig to Eulemer would work in my situation? Did you make changes to both the 32-bit and 64-bit address spaces in the ATIConfig5000 you posted?
8. Hello- I seem to have trouble booting off the boot drive. I believe I followed the instructions correctly and have tried both formatting as both GUID and MBR to no avail. I also tried to use the installer for Chameleon in the second post of the link provied in the OP as well as the newest Chameleon for 10.7.2. I am using a GA-EP45T-USB3P. Any ideas on what the issue could be? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Actually, I WASN'T following the directions correctly. Instead of restoring to the new partition on the usb drive, I was restoring to the drive itself. Maybe I overwrote the EFI partition and therefore the bootloader did not install properly. I am now getting an error saying: "Can't find /mach_kernel" but I think I saw something about that earlier in this thread...sorry! EDIT 2: Copied mach_kernel to root of drive, disabled FireWire, replaced OSinstall, and I was on my way. If only I could get HDMI sound and lose the phantom VGA display on my MSI Hawk R5770, I'd be on my way! This is an excellent installation method, MaLd0n, Thank You!
9. How to get ALC889 working in Lion

I am trying to get sound working on my GA-EP45T-USB3P in Lion and used the method outlined in mulcyber's post to no avail. Any ideas on how I can get the ALC889 working in Lion? Thanks in advance.
10. [Fixed] Ghost display on MSI R5770 Hawk in Lion

Hello- I am planning on installing Lion on my HTPC, which has a R5770, today. Assuming I follow the same steps as axm in post 12, will I have a ghost free machine in addition to HDMI sound? Or is the ket posted above only a fix for the ghost issue? Thanks! (I'm horribly unclear on how to get the 5770 working with sound in Lion)
11. Hello- I am looking to install OS X on my HTPC when its target SSD arrives tomorrow. mp4 embedded sub support is poor in Windows and I would like to give plex a spin. The system configuration is as follows: GA-EP45T-USB3P Intel Core2Quad (Q8300) @ 2.5GHz Radeon 5770 (MSI Hawk R5770) I had a few questions regarding this installation method and would greatly appreciate some help: 1. DSDT.aml The changelog.txt states, "Implemented autogeneration of DSDT.aml. Should work for most motherboards similar to Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4." What is qualified as similar? The differences between the two boards (P35.. vs. EP45...) that I see are the northbridge (P35 vs. P45), southbridge (ICH9R vs. ICH10R), and the audio chipsets (ALC889A vs. ALC889). Is this sufficiently similar to correctly generate a new DSDT.aml file when running finalize? 2. Will I need different kexts for the ALC889 to work properly vs. the 889A ? Should I just use [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] to resolve this post-installation? Should I remove the 889A kexts from the ALC885_889A_LION folder before I proceed creating my boot drive? 3. Not sure 2 is really important as I plan to run audio through the HDMI on the 5770. Do the newer versions of Chameleon support sound through the 5770's HDMI? Or are DSDT changes still necessary to enable this? 4. I read that the version of Chameleon included with this package has problems with RAID installs. I have a 3ware 9650se-8lpml coming in the day after tomorrow that I plan to run a 5x1.5TB RAID 5 with. As this volume won't be my install volume, I should have no issues, right? 5. This question has nothing to do with the installation method, but just in case anyone knows: Will switching to AHCI mode on the SATA controller of my motherboard permanently break my current ICH10R array? Or will it come back when I go back to RAID mode (which seems to support AHCI disks on it)? Everything is backed up (hopefully!), so it's not too much of a concern. Thanks in advance and sorry for the many questions!
12. MAJ, I was able to rock a clean install of Lion on my UD4P (running BIOS F13). Everything seems to work fine (after patching AppleRTC.kext for the CMOS restart issue) with the exception of scheduled/automatic sleep. Hopefully, I can find a solution to this problem (which will allow me to save some money on my electricity bill ) As always, thank you for all of your hard work, it is much appreciated!
13. Hello- It has been some time since I have attempted a reinstall and would like to say I am a huge fan of the Boot Disk method. It has greatly simplified things. I did run into an issue where the EFI string for my GT260 did not work properly. Reverting back to the EFI string I used earlier (attached later), everything worked beautifully. Thanks so much, MAJ. EFI_string.txt I am currently running BIOS revision F14P on my GA-EX58-UD4P in 10.6.7. I am having some issues with restart and sleep. With no overclocking, the machine will not restart properly. My monitor powers off and the computer continues to whir along. Sleep is a bit finicky. Scheduled Sleep doesn't work (ie in energy saver pref pane), though I can't remember that it ever has. Sometimes, the machine will restart when brought back from sleep, other times it will work just fine, and other times the mouse won't work (connected via USB hub). In the past, I have found that some BIOS versions work better than others in regards to sleep. Do any other users of Snow Leopard have the same issues as above? Is there a preferred BIOS release that works better than the current beta? I was previously running F14B, which worked for me at one point, but had similar issues in the current install. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! EFI_string.txt
14. Hello- I had the same issue. I was able to use my old EFI string on my previously-working install to get it working properly. The EFI string that worked with my 260 is attached EFI_string.txt
15. RAID 5 setup questions

You could set up 2 2-drive raid0 on the areca ARC-1210, it should work well.
