rule of thumb - get intel chipset (945 965 975 . . . . )

and get the ones most people in here have - you will get more help

expensive 795 but a lot works out of the box:

asus 795

intel badaxe 2

965:

i got a 6300 with a D975XBXLKR motherboard everything works except sound... but you can always pop in a soundblaster value for 50$ .... but the performances are AMAZING xbench: same as dual G5 2.0 with 6 GB of ram (and ive got 2 GB with 1.86 ghz processor) what a great board

i experienced a couple crashes, i think they are due to my stupid benq dvdrw OR rosetta... i have yet to narrow down the crashes (everything points to rosetta) the video card is a radeon x1600 pro (diamond) vga output

the only pro app i installed so far is aperture and the results are just amazing (it just pisses me so much that it is actually easier to install on that machine and i have to hack around to get it running on my powerbook g4 12 inch that is 5 months old!!!!)

ill try final cut pro tomorow ill keep you on touch

hey

i want to get a new system

my powerbook is too lame

and i dont have the money for a macpro

also i dont need quadcore since the program i mainly use (maya viewport) is single threaded

i would like to get the core2duo 6600 and overclock it

can you recommend a motherboard for the core2duo 6600 chip and high compatibility ?

it should be able to overclock too

i would like everything to work properly since it will be my new main machine on osx

and the motherboard is the most important part

thanks in advance for your time
