Hatorade
Anyone know how to get full screen resolution support for ATI 9200 PCI card? I've searched and the Boris method does not work. I have a Dell 20" widescreen supporting up to 1680x1050. Rammjet
For your card, you need to investigate the Callisto drivers: http://omni.starchaser.org/callisto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24648-full-screen-resolution-support-for-ati-9200-pci/#findComment-165996 Share on other sites
Hatorade
I have tried the 008 and 003 driver and they dont work. I will try 006 and 005, the older Boris method (now updated) showed me how, but no luck. Can someone post step-by-step instructions on how to do this for a 9200? Using the 8500 or 9700 kext? Hatorade
EDIT: I have not tried the Boris method. I was referring to the Phoenix method. BaselineAce
I too would be interested to see if someone can get this installed... Have you tried tricking OS X into thinking that it's an AGP card? Guest goodtime
Callisto b003 is needed to get you native res. on ATI 9200 Mobility. For Desktop 9200, you'll have to test each Callisto and see. Hatorade
I don't know what -v, -s boot are or how to do it. Ive followed the Callisto instructions and still no work. Guest goodtime
I don't know what -v, -s boot are or how to do it. Ive followed the Callisto instructions and still no work. Edit your Boot.plist file and add a separate entry for Timeout and a value of 10-90. The boot.plist file is in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration. Edit using sudo pico /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/name of the boot plist file Reboot Press F8 at Count down Boot screen. Then in the kernel command area -v (verbose) or -s (single user) or -x (safe mode). If you can't get in your Machine. The easiest thing to do is reinstall from scratch and be more careful next time. Your Mileage May Vary! I got black screen initially, but then changed the CallistoUseAltPLLMethod to true and now it's great. of course, no QE, but all resolutions to choose from. saddam lennon
no pain at all. open Callisto.kext/Contents/Info.plist, find the line: <key>CallistoUseAltPLLMethod</key> and change the following line from <false/> to <true/> Except for it, follow the installation.htm instructions. good luck Greg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24648-full-screen-resolution-support-for-ati-9200-pci/#findComment-176868 Share on other sites
abbub
Saddam Lennon, what exactly does CallistoUseAltPLLMethod do? (Other than make your card work...) Is there an associated performance gain/hit with it? To those with failures loading Callisto, how exactly is it failing? I was having absolutely no luck getting Callisto to work until I hooked up a Dell 1907 yesterday. The problem was that the driver was running my monitor out of spec, and the monitor (a big Sun CRT) was shutting down. Even with the EFID, the driver wouldn't run the monitor correctly. Adding a "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32" at boot would bring the resolution down and work, but it was trying to run 1280x1024 at a higher frequency than the crt wanted to be driven. If you're having failures and have multiple monitors around, it might be worth a shot to try hooking up another monitor, just for trouble shooting purpose... The 'failing' Callisto drivers on my machine started not failing as soon as I hooked up a different monitor. RKeeler
I also have a Radeon 9200 and I've been trying to install Callisto with no luck. Could someone show me the details on how to edit the file, etc. I am a total Mac newbie and I'm not afraid to say that I'm totally lost. Could someone help me? You can also PM me if you wish. Thanks. intrax
Switching from Callisto b06 to b08 I got resolution switching working on my Radeon 9250, but in the process the screensaver graphics and iTunes visualization seized working and now simply crash... this was working on Callisto b06.... So now apparently OpenGL not working.... howto fix ? anyone ? edit: removed ATIRadeon8500GLdriver.bundle... now OpenGL works.... slowly only software opengl.... we need better drivers for this card to get QE and hardware accellerated opengl going !
