s00p3rj
I have tried several different builds and I can get them to work fine. Audio always works but is really low. I have tried the different ALC888 kexts and they still dont seem to work for me. Anyone have this same problem (LOW audio)? How did you fix it? And dont say turn up the volume even maxed out its super low. I changed between 16&24 in the midi settings like suggested elsewhere too and still low. dothacker
maybe it's just your speakers being so small... when you had windows in it, was it low too? I have the output into my TV and I am triple booting with Win7 and Debian and audio is fine. Daurora2008
What method did you use to install Mac on your machine. I just got mine today and I have been having problems with just getting it to boot into Mac. dothacker
LegacyHDA.kext... have you tried that one? Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/246296-dell-inspiron-560-low-audio/#findComment-1634464 Share on other sites
Daurora2008
The Voodoo kernel on iAtkos install for 10.6.3 gave me good sound but you get hissing output from the speakers. I prefer staying away from the Voodoo kernel unless I have no choice. I prefer the Vanilla kernel if my machine will support it but with the hardware in mine it is not possible. Daurora2008
My install was the retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3 using the Nawcom boot disk. I am running on the Vanilla kernel with VoodooHDA to get my audio working. Haven't found any other working options. Occasional kernel panics on boot. Can't seem to make sense of it. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix for it? Also sometimes when I shut it down the machine will exit the OS but the fans will keep running and there is still power. What would cause that? As for the hissing from the speakers, how do you edit the VoodooHDA to stop that? Daurora2008
I installed mine with a Nawcom boot disk and the retail 10.6.3 install DVD. After I installed I made a DSDT patch and that fixed pretty much all of the kernel panics. I haven't had one in about 2 months of continuous use. As for the USB problem with the two top ports on the back not working I resolved that with copying AppleLPC and renaming it LegacyLPC and adding my device ID to it and adding it to my /Extra/Extensions folder. For video I got an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT card and used Chameleon's GraphicsEnabler until I could make an EFI string. I now run my computer on that string. Beyond that everything runs 100% except for the occasional problem with shutdown. It will exit the operating system but the power button will stay orange and the CPU fan will keep running. If I can find a fix for that then it will be 100%.
