Working on making games and working with Mac OS x86. I am strong into web development and someday planning on becoming a Mac Developer.
  1. XFX Radeon HD 5670

I got this card because from the research done it is supposed to just work with 10.6.8. Sadly it did not. When I looked at the information in System Profiler it is labeled as GPU with 3MB of memory. Shows the vendor and device ID correctly and the kexts that use these ID's have them. I verified they are correct with Windows 7. I can't think of anything to get it to work. Don't know if anyone else is having the same issue as I am. If anyone else has and have already fixed the problem please help me out. This has me stumped. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G41MT-USB3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128489 CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5800 @ 3.2Ghz RAM: 2GB Kingston Hard Drive: 2TB Western Digital
  2. Asus P5E DSDT fixes

I am wondering how I would find the information needed to edit the AppleHDA. I am running on VoodooHDA and would like to get out of using it. Would a codec dump be able to tell me what I would need to edit it? Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the dumb question. I have only done light editing of different kexts up until now and I want to make my computer as Vanilla as possible.
  3. I have the Pentium Dual Core E5800 running at 3.2Ghz. What it does occasionally upon shutdown is that it will exit the Operating System but the fans will keep running and the power button will turn orange. Oh, probably a dumb question but the busratio is the number of multipliers the CPU has right? I will give it a shot and see if this resolves my problems. Edit: I gave it a shot but it didn't change anything. I did some further research and found that my CPU wouldn't need to have the busratio entered in. I think it may be something that needs entered into the DSDT that I may of missed or a kernel extension that is not loading. I don't know though. It is hard to say what it could be.
  4. Dell Inspiron 560 LOW audio

I installed mine with a Nawcom boot disk and the retail 10.6.3 install DVD. After I installed I made a DSDT patch and that fixed pretty much all of the kernel panics. I haven't had one in about 2 months of continuous use. As for the USB problem with the two top ports on the back not working I resolved that with copying AppleLPC and renaming it LegacyLPC and adding my device ID to it and adding it to my /Extra/Extensions folder. For video I got an NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT card and used Chameleon's GraphicsEnabler until I could make an EFI string. I now run my computer on that string. Beyond that everything runs 100% except for the occasional problem with shutdown. It will exit the operating system but the power button will stay orange and the CPU fan will keep running. If I can find a fix for that then it will be 100%.
  5. I have the same machine, minus a few specs. I have the Pentium Dual-Core and a Realtek ethernet controller. Beyond that the rest is pretty much the same. What I had to do is use a Nawcom boot disk and install. Once I booted up for the first time I had to make a DSDT. I would provide mine but seeing how we don't quite have the same hardware it would be a bad idea. The DSDT fixed the occasional kernel panics I was getting. Making a LegacyLPC.kext and putting it in my /Extra/Extensions folder fixed my USB issues. I still have random shutdown problems but for the most part my computer works pretty well. If there is any way I can help let me know.
  6. Dell Inspiron 560 LOW audio

My install was the retail Snow Leopard 10.6.3 using the Nawcom boot disk. I am running on the Vanilla kernel with VoodooHDA to get my audio working. Haven't found any other working options. Occasional kernel panics on boot. Can't seem to make sense of it. Has anyone had this problem and found a fix for it? Also sometimes when I shut it down the machine will exit the OS but the fans will keep running and there is still power. What would cause that? As for the hissing from the speakers, how do you edit the VoodooHDA to stop that?
  7. Marvell Yukon 88E8038 on Leopard 10.5.7

    Natit.kext should fix your graphics.
  8. I just installed Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on a Gateway ML6230. My signature will say the rest. I normally patch my audio with AppleHDAPatcher and this time around it gave me nothing but kernel panics. I was wondering if anyone else has successfully got their sound working.
  9. I am just using the one on the partition for 10.5.8. I was told to try the Voodoo kernel when I could no longer load off of the Vanilla kernel. I got into the verbose screen but now I either have a kernel panic at the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement or like after I move the kext out of the extensions folder I now get a "Waiting on Root Device" message. The chipset supports AHCI but I cannot turn it on in BIOS. I need to find a workaround to get it to boot and I am betting without the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement I am going to run into more problems yet too so I am going to have to find a workaround for that too and return that kext to the extensions folder.
  10. Also the hardware I am working with is a G33 northbridge, an ICH9 southbridge, 2GB of RAM, a Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT card, which will only work on one of the newer updates as far as I know with ATY_Init.kext, and two 500GB hard drives. One is for Mac OS X and one is for Windows 7. Any help getting this done will be appreciated. I would prefer staying with Leopard if it can be helped. If I absolutely must go to Snow Leopard then I will but I would like to avoid it for now. EDIT: I forgot to mention it has an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.18 Ghz processor.
  11. I am working with a Dell Inspiron 530 and I installed Jas 10.5.4. Following some other instructions I made a 2nd install on a separate partition and I installed it to that partition from the disk inside of the first install. I then installed Chameleon-2.0-r431 to that partition and then ran the 10.5.8 combo update on that partition, all without rebooting. When I went to boot into it I used the boot flags "-v -f" to see what loaded and to watch for errors. Right after the kexts loaded it automatically rebooted. Everytime I try to boot it just keeps rebooting before it reaches the verbose screen. Any idea of what I may have done wrong?
  12. Dell Inspiron 560 LOW audio

The Voodoo kernel on iAtkos install for 10.6.3 gave me good sound but you get hissing output from the speakers. I prefer staying away from the Voodoo kernel unless I have no choice. I prefer the Vanilla kernel if my machine will support it but with the hardware in mine it is not possible.
  13. Snow Leopard on Inspiron 530

I have a PNY 8400GS card and I am trying to install Snow Leopard on a Dell Inspiron 530. What EFI string will I need to get it to work correctly?
  14. Dell Inspiron 560 LOW audio

What method did you use to install Mac on your machine. I just got mine today and I have been having problems with just getting it to boot into Mac.
  15. Having major graphics issues. Tearing cursor, can't get on certain sites with certain graphics requirements and problem is I can't find a kernel extension to fix it! Can anyone help me find one!
