Rhapa
Everyone already heard of the DVORAK Keyboard Layout but none ever wanted to switch to one because it's really annoying having to relearn how to type again. I tell you that it's really annoying and awful to learn to type in a DVORAK keyboard but when you learn how to type in one you'll really be amazed how fast you can type english words. For those running mac os it isn't that complicated to learn it because you can put an onscreen keyboard that will show you where to find the keys without looking at the keyboard and it will also show you which key you're pressing. You can find online courses to learn to type (yes, you'll type those boring sequences like aaaaa sssss and so on) and using the on screen keyboard you can manage it like a normal typing program (without the error or the speed typing percentage). You should really try this. For me it took only 2 weeks to the wont with the keyboard and after I get it I don't wanna switch back to the QWERTY layout and now it's annoying to type on a different computer than mine ('course I still type fast using the QWERTY but it's a little different). You can switch from one to another going to System Preferences, Language and Text, Input Sources and then selecting the Dvorak layout from the list. a Popup menu will appear beside the volume menu on the task bar and you can switch between then easily. Try it out... PS. I didn't buy a Dvorak layout keyboard, I just changed the positions of my keys in my keyboard (I do it a lot to experiment new layouts or other languages layouts).... myrorym
I like DVORAK! write/right now. I moved my keys, didn't find it that much of a hassle since I was committed to it. I type fairly quickly, not speed demonly, no tests to compare, however I find myself hesitating on both in the first few months. Now at six months I have comfortable time with DVORAK. I am looking to get a dvorak cover for my keyboard so that others may use it if necessary. anyone try one? KBcovers has many apple keyboard DVORAK covers, however I have not ordered yet, so I can't review product or merchant I find annoying many OS and App shortcuts that have moved, and some entirely are useless ie J,K,L in FCP. It would only take editing some shortcuts, but it could take a lot of time, something to consider if slowing your work-flow is not an option. cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/245889-dvorak-keyboard-learning/#findComment-1632276 Share on other sites
