adammcg
Hi after finally getting osx86 10.4.6 installed correctly today and running on wmware, I tried to boot natively off the hard drive I installed it to. Everything was normal until before osx loaded and I got this: ..... disk0s1: I/O error. jnl: do_jnl_io: strategy err 0x5 jnl: replay_journal: could not read block list header block @ 0x148800 ! jnl: journal_open: Error replaying the journal! hfs: early jnl init: failed to open/create the journal (retval 0). disk0s1: I/O error. hfs_mountroot failed: 5 nfs_boot: networking is not initialized panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002B66B9): nfs_boot_init failed with 6 Debugger Called: <panic> Backtrace, Format - Frame : Return Address (4 potential args on stack) 0x126b3a84 : 0x128aea (0x3b9dcc 0x126b3aa8 0x130c94 0x0) 0x126b3ac4 : 0x2b66b9 (0x3d1860 0x6 0x126b3b04 0x280ff5eb) 0x126b3ea4 : 0x1c5ee0 (0x20b7d00 0x219df78 0x126b3ec4 0x33eb30) 0x126b3ee4 : 0x30f2e3 (0x1fdb140 0x1 0x126b3f98 0x20) 0x126b3fb4 : 0x135f0e (0x0 0x7 0x0 0x0) 0x126b3fd4 : 0x196b69 (0x0 0xffffffff 0x4431f8 0x49b800) Backtrace terminated-invalid frame pointer 0x0 Kernel Version: ...... Guest BuildSmart
LOL..... "VMWARE", you can't run a vmware install natively without doing some reconfiguring of your system. adammcg
What do you mean, I've made the partition primary and active? wondergod
wait, did you install it vmware and try to boot off that same vmware image without the use of vmware? You can't boot off a vmware image unless you are in windows running vmware. You would have to create new(real) partition with a new install of osX to boot without the use of vmware. Rammjet
There is a way, using VMware to install to a partition instead of a vmware image. Then you can boot to that partition without VMware. This is a solution for people who have computers that refuse to boot the install DVD. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/24588-installed-works-with-wmware-but-not-natively-help/#findComment-166610 Share on other sites
adammcg
I tried many many times to install natively on my blank 80GB IDE hard disk. I formatted it fine and while installing, near the end I keep getting 'Please try installing again and the install halts'. Finally I tried to install using Vmware and booting the install CD and it worked fine. I made the partition active and it booted fine in WMware. However when I selected the drive at startup, it wouldn't boot natively. wondergod
when i installed on a new hard drive i completely wiped that hard drive of all partitions. Inserted the Install disc and started up, when it asked for what drive i used the disk utility to create an HFS partition...then of course i selected customize and added my patches...
